Yeah, I like the closure thing too, cuz R/L was the worst breakup ever, it felt rushed, ooc, with no emotional aftermath.
yes, especially in contrast to how S6 ended, it was sad but felt waay more hopeful.

it will be interesting to see what Amy will write for them in the revival given that Rory rejected his proposal, bc I think this is not making our odds better, though I have to say choosing herself/wide open future over him is different than choosing another guy - like happened with Jess in 6x18, and people still thing they lack closure, or that their issues were about timing.

It all depends on what Amy thinks is good for Rory, but I think Logan is the boyfriend Rory loved the most.

It was mentioned in the R/L thread I think - "You called me Ace" as a callback to "You called me Rory" wil be lovely

I agree. Rory has already chosen Logan over Jess once, and I think it still stands even after 8 years. And R/L didn't break up because they didn't love each other anymore, so there was no closure at all (it amazes me when people say their story was finished).

I know right, the ending of S6 wasn't even a breakup and it was so much more emotional and bittersweet. Matt's and Alexis's acting there was the best.

Haha yeah, I think I had said something like that! I'd love if it happened.
I also wish to see the Rocket! Though I don't know if it is too impossible since it is a S7 thing.

It blows me away when people think Rory and Logan had closure! I mean...they barely had a conversation! Plus, when they were still thinking they might do 13 episodes for season 8, Matt was going to be a part of that. So clearly the people who wrote that ending didn't think it was really a final ending.

So I mentioned forever ago that I was working on gathering everything Amy and Dan ever said about Jess and Logan that I could source. I put them up on tumblr if you're interested. Logan version, Jess version.

Thanks for doing that. It's nice to see stuff that is actually sourced. I really love how when ASP is talking about Jess in 6.08, she makes a point of saying "he knew her when" instead of knows her best. One argument that always irks me is that "Jess knew her best" just because he tells her that he knows her. I'm sorry, but how does running away from someone and barely speaking to them for 2 years while they're away at college and discovering themselves equate to knowing someone better than anyone else?

I also loathe when people try to say J/R had no closure, but L/R did. She kept telling Jess "no". She told him she loved Logan. How is that not closure? Because Jess still had feelings for her? It's such an invalid argument. I always go back to that tiny scene in the last episode too where she takes the rocket out, and leaves it out. To me that was symbolic that she wasn't ready to let go yet. That's just my take. I also think it's harder to feel closure from your first adult relationship than a high school one. At least it was for me.

Thanks so much for this!!

In what you gathered about Logan, Amy mentions marriage twice! It goes along with what I had said before that in S5 they are always surrounded around it too (I still have to rewactch S6). I don't know what that means though (I don't think Rogan will get married in the revival), I just think it is curious.
If Amy really sees the revival as something final, I think Logan's arc will be about his being actually free, since she mentions his lack of freedom a lot and that is what she left unfinished in S6.

Speaking of endgame, I read a comment the other day I had never thought before, which was that if Amy was doing a spinoff for Jess it might mean she never thought of Rory ending with him... I thought this logic was interesting. Unless she planned for a short-lived spinoff, there is no way she could build R/J again in GG.

I think Logan was a character that was developed with the idea of "endgame" in mind--not that he was endgame exactly, but he needed the potential to be. Amy and Dan 100% knew that the show wouldn't go much beyond the college years if it would go beyond them at all, so they would have to have known that the college boyfriend had to be a contender for Rory's ending.

Preach it. If Rory wanted to be with Jess, she'd be with Jess. He was clearly always an option. I also really hate when people say that Rory went to Jess in 6.18 out of "desire". Um...desire for revenge, maybe. She went because she knew he was a sure thing.

Also, I'm not gonna lie. Milo's comment that Amy once told him an ending and "it still wasn't Rory and Jess" makes me very happy.

I think so too, I mean when Amy and Dan left there was only one season left and no contender for Logan, so they had had to think about this potential "endgame". And who knows, even if they were the writers in S7, Rory could have ended up single (I could see them leaving R/L apart but with some hint of their being together in the future). But now it's different, cuz 8 years passed, so the potential endgame can turn out to be endgame.
