Episode 2.13 - Humble Pie


PANTHER PROBLEMS—Brian “Smash” Williams (Gaius Charles) confrontation at the movie theater has turned from bad into worse as charges are being pressed against him. Smash must now decide whether he must swallow his pride and apologize or stand up for what he believes is right. Elsewhere, Jason Street (Scott Porter) finds a new career. Tami Taylor (Connie Britton) is hired by Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) as the girl’s volleyball coach and turns to Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) for help. Meanwhile, Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) faces tough times as he tries to express what he is feeling to Lyla (Minka Kelly). Aimee Teegarden, Zach Gilford and Jesse Plemons also star.

I'm so excited. I so will watch it live although it's 03.00 am for me and I have to get up 3 hours later.

The scene when Chris gives his sermon just finished. He was really good. And he was singing.

Well, he was singing with the rest of the crowd so you couldn't hear him... but he was singing and it still made me swoon like a fangirl.

Oh and the mini-golf date turned out to be different than what it appeared to be in the sides. Lyla ended up telling him the truth about her history with Tim, and Chris couldn't have been more understanding.

Good that it turned out a better was as I expected after reading the sides.

What was the date like?

They didn't really show them mini-golfing. Lyla was pretty distracted in the beginning, and then they end up sitting on a bench when Lyla tells Chris about the Tim/Jason saga from last season. Chris was really quiet at first so Lyla says "Aren't you going to say something?" Then Chris says "I'm just thinking it must've been hard for you to say all that." Then they talk some more, Chris asks Lyla if she still has feelings for Tim... she says "no", they kiss, then go to get ice cream.

Then she later tells Tim that Chris makes her happy.

Oh, and btw, I loved Jason in this episode. I missed him.

I think so. At least it seemed believable because then after they talk and Chris kisses Lyla and says that they should get ice cream, Lyla says "wait" and pulls Chris in for another kiss. Very cute scene.

Chris was only in 3 scenes, and the mini-golf scene was his last for this episode.

Even as a main character there were some days where we didn't even get 3 scenes when he was in GG

I also thought Lyla's "no" was believable. I was somewhat surprised, but it seems that she is genuinely tired of Tim's drama. She's had to work through enough of her own problems. Although I would love for her to be there for Tim (because really, all I want is for Riggins to be happy), Chris has to be refreshing for her.

I couldn't believe just how understanding he was. Why does Matt always have to play a wonderful TV boyfriend? I do not need anymore TV boyfriends, but Matt could make me fall in love with any character he's playing.

I was really happy that Chris' preaching scene was in this episode after Matt mentioned receiving a lot of compliments from extras about his work in that scene in an interview. I could see why he received those compliments. He was very engaging.

His singing and dancing was absolutely adorable.

I absolutely love Matt in FNL. It's really great to see him once again in a well-written show with so many talented co-stars.
