I hate it when shows introduce too many guest stars, but I think if a guest star keeps two regulars entangled then that's awesome.

The new voting polls for the month are now up

Also, if you havent already noticed, the new announcement about voting says this about the upcoming Fall 2009 shows:

Wasn't Vivienne in the script we all read, an older woman with an agenda for Isaac? I think maybe the scipt we read was the full one (plus rewrites obviously) and the pilot presentation just cut a few unimportant scenes from that.

Oh yeah, definitely. The reason I was thinking that Sara and Corbin would be needed back sooner than everyone else is because they will probably finish the pilot before they begin shooting the other episodes. I'm pretty sure Mischa has done her work on the pilot, along with pretty much everyone else.

That's why I'm assuming they cut these scenes or breezed over them in the presentation with whatever actors they could grab (which they might've done, assuming that this call is for the same brother that's in the trailer and also there's a scene in one of the trailers with Corbin and a girl checking each other out, but it goes so fast I can't tell what the girl looks like or how old she is).

They will be way easier to reshoot if they don't need the cast. I'm sure the other characters don't know Raina's brother, since her family life is a big secret, and the scenes with Isaac and Vivienne were of just the two of them. They might've also wanted to make sure they could bank on Corbin as a regular before they shot this storyline too, since it could potentially be spread out over a nice long arc.

Ok, yeah I get it now. It's very possible that they will start shooting without Mischa before 22nd, especially since most of her scenes (or the script that we read) have been alluded to as part of the plot of the presentation. Though I do think Sara's quote was about the actual moving to NYC more than showing she will be starting before Mischa.

I'm really not sure how reshoots work as normally everyone with even 1 line goes to the table read and rehersals, which wouldn't be the case here but it would be weird to show up to the first proper day on set and have it only be a few people. I agree its possible they wanted to bag Corbin before shooting Vivienne scenes, although since he isn't one of the 2 main leads or Sonja/Elle its possible they thought it wasn't that important.

Oh, lol. I get what you're saying now. And yeah, you are probably 100% right. And Mischa grew up in NYC, and Ben and Sara did not. I'm sure she's even got a place there already, and the other two are there completely fresh. They probably want to get acclimated to the city before they start work.

That is the way it works for normal episodes, and episodic TV usually moves so fast that recasts aren't normally done after the pilot process. Pilots, however, are a pretty different beast.

Usually, they shoot the episode and most everything is the same and it airs as the first episode. I'm pretty sure that The OC pilot in it's entirety was what as filmed in pilot season.

There are some that change very drastically. Brothers and Sisters dropped half its cast and hired new actors, doctored the personalities of many of the characters, and even did plot and structural changes.

There are others out there that change a few things. Buffy the Vampire Slayer has an unaired pilot that has some recasts and small variations. Dawson's Creek changed one series regular cast member. Dawson's Creek, like TBL, was shot as a presentation, which meant only 30 minutes of the pilot was shot. They filled it in after it was ordered to series. Dawson's father was the one who was recast and the storyline with Jen and her grandmother was filmed later which is why you can notice some set, hair, and costume changes from scene to scene.

I'm assuming that the same will happen here, and since the storylines they're doing have the benefit of being isolated it probably won't be as obvious as the Dawson's Creek reshoots.

And also, I totally didn't know that Aly Hannigan was a late addition as Willow in the Buffy pilot. Thank you, IMDB.

I can't imagine anyone other than Aly in the role. Aly puts such complete vulnerability into performances, which was at points needed for Willow.

Yeah, you might not want to see the other chick. Found the unaired on YouTube, and as is usual with recasts, Aly is MUCH BETTER!

And if this brother is the brother that happened to be recast, I'm sure his scenes will end up on YT too. Pilot screeners have a habit of leaking or being sold on eBay or whatever.

It is kind of funny, because this show is going to be spoiled all to hell for us, especially if they do a lot of location shooting. We'll know everything that's going to happen because of the paparazzi's candids.
