Mischa Barton joins CW's 'Beautiful Life'

“The O.C.” alumna Mischa Barton has been tapped to star in CW’s drama pilot “A Beautiful Life.”

The project, from CBS Par, revolves around a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.

Barton will play Sonja, a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping.

Barton can bring personal experience to the role as she has modeled for such companies as Calvin Klein, bebe stores, Aeropostale, Monsoon Accessorize, Dooney & Bourke and JC (Jeans and Clothes).

Barton was originally up for another CW drama pilot, “Melrose Place,” but that casting didn’t materialize.

Best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” Barton is repped by Paradigm.

Mischa Barton has promised her new TV show is going to be "like The OC times 10".
The 23-year-old actress is to star in a fashion drama - rumoured to be titled A Beautiful Life - on The CW channel.
Mischa said: "It's like Entourage for the fashion world and I think there's a real market for that these days -it's like taking what's really fun and guilty about The OC and it's like that times 10, because the fashion on The OC was definitely great but this would be like couture."
She continued: "And there's something so fascinating about the world of couture that hasn't been explored properly and I think it could be really exciting.
"I hope this show will take off and I think if it does it will be a huge hit.
"I don't want to be presumptuous, but I mean we just got so lucky - Zac Posen has a fashion show in the first episode and plays himself as a designer.
"My character's in a Versace dress and me and the other girls styled ourselves and we're all wearing incredible McQueen shoes and great bags.
"Elle McPherson plays the modelling agent, ex-model, in it. It's just really exciting so maybe it will be a good fit."

Ashton Kutcher's CBS Paramount Network Television-based Katalyst Films has lined up a pair of drama projects at the netlet. First up is "The Beautiful Life," which centers on male and female models who live together in New York. Model-turned-writer Adam Giaudrone ("Swingtown") is penning the script, based on his own experiences, and will serve as a supervising producer. Carol Barbee ("Jericho") is also attached to executive produce. It's understood the lead characters will be Christopher, a 22-year-old "destined for the JC Penney catalog," and 15-year-old Reyna, "destined to become the next Heidi Klum," while the project itself will focus on the darker side of the modeling industry.

The Beautiful Life gets picked up!!!!!! Set to air Wednesdays at 9 pm Eastern time following America’s Next Top Model.

BTW, Sara was on a radio show and briefly mentions Mischa:

Her segment starts about quarter the way through.

She says the show starts on Mondays after Top Model. And gets completely flustered when asked about Nico. It's funny. I think she needs a few notes, lol.

And the rest of it is just hilarious. She's a massive dork. I kinda love her. "I am a thug". LMAOOOO.

They released those early stills of Sara but they REALLY need to release some of Mischa.

Things should roll pretty quickly come July. Cause it'll be filming and then promo will have to really start heating up cause September isnt that far away.

I listened to that interview today. Sara is adorable. I really really really like her.

She seems laid back and chill. I think this whole cast does. Which is Mischa's MO.
