Mischa Barton joins CW's 'Beautiful Life'

“The O.C.” alumna Mischa Barton has been tapped to star in CW’s drama pilot “A Beautiful Life.”

The project, from CBS Par, revolves around a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.

Barton will play Sonja, a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping.

Barton can bring personal experience to the role as she has modeled for such companies as Calvin Klein, bebe stores, Aeropostale, Monsoon Accessorize, Dooney & Bourke and JC (Jeans and Clothes).

Barton was originally up for another CW drama pilot, “Melrose Place,” but that casting didn’t materialize.

Best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” Barton is repped by Paradigm.

Mischa Barton has promised her new TV show is going to be "like The OC times 10".
The 23-year-old actress is to star in a fashion drama - rumoured to be titled A Beautiful Life - on The CW channel.
Mischa said: "It's like Entourage for the fashion world and I think there's a real market for that these days -it's like taking what's really fun and guilty about The OC and it's like that times 10, because the fashion on The OC was definitely great but this would be like couture."
She continued: "And there's something so fascinating about the world of couture that hasn't been explored properly and I think it could be really exciting.
"I hope this show will take off and I think if it does it will be a huge hit.
"I don't want to be presumptuous, but I mean we just got so lucky - Zac Posen has a fashion show in the first episode and plays himself as a designer.
"My character's in a Versace dress and me and the other girls styled ourselves and we're all wearing incredible McQueen shoes and great bags.
"Elle McPherson plays the modelling agent, ex-model, in it. It's just really exciting so maybe it will be a good fit."
Mischa has always loved fashion and styled herself in teen drama The OC. She has just launched the third season of her own handbag collection which she designed herself. It can be seen at Mischa Barton - Handbag Shop Online.

Development Updates
Ashton Kutcher's CBS Paramount Network Television-based Katalyst Films has lined up a pair of drama projects at the netlet. First up is "The Beautiful Life," which centers on male and female models who live together in New York. Model-turned-writer Adam Giaudrone ("Swingtown") is penning the script, based on his own experiences, and will serve as a supervising producer. Carol Barbee ("Jericho") is also attached to executive produce. It's understood the lead characters will be Christopher, a 22-year-old "destined for the JC Penney catalog," and 15-year-old Reyna, "destined to become the next Heidi Klum," while the project itself will focus on the darker side of the modeling industry.

The Beautiful Life gets picked up!!!!!! Set to air Wednesdays at 9 pm Eastern time following America’s Next Top Model.

This and Glee [So friggin' in love with Glee, it's not even funny!] are my main new obsessions [so far] for the new season!

And lovin' my Ian returning to TV too, but not sure if I'll stick with Vampire Diaries or not.

) Sara Paxton seems like she's gonna be a good Raina as well.

Good to see the logo already, though I expected something a little more flashy. Minor complaint. Can't wait to see more of an actual trailer and some interviews about the show.

I really hope the CW promote this properly. They have some famous faces and a perfect partner for their higest rated so I can't think why they wouldn't but they do seem a little fixated on MP/TVD.

Ausiello just updated again and confirmed that Mischa is still in Moscow, but they mentioned that she was on a modeling assignment, so she's helping to get that image across without actually being there.

I don't know why I was expecting her to get back so fast, lol. I kinda wanted pics from upfronts, but they're taking pictures in Moscow, so I'm cool.

Yah I hope the CW promote this show like they should because when I was in the US I seen more of GG ads in that channel then anything else

Shame she's not there for the upfronts but there will be tons of other times when the cast gets together to chat to the press like the TCAs in the Summer etc. As well as personal interviews.

I guess that it's helpful to know that one of the main characters in a modelling show does have a lot of experience as a model.

Maybe she could do photo shoots or endorsements for products on the show and in real life.

ETA: The CW have just put up a page on TBL. Not much there except a photoshopped close up of the promo pic with Elle McP in as well but they'll probably put up video and stuff quite soon.

She's already been photographed with Ashley in London and yeah, there will be several more times for them to be photographed together.

And I'm sure they LOVE that she's modeling right now. If she couldn't be there, that's the next best thing.
