Mischa Barton - Shelby (Homecoming): A girl never forgets her first love...

In her flood of projects, here's yet another movie! This is the first time we'll see Mischa as the bonafide villain- love to see her stretching her acting chops.

SYNOPSIS:
Mike is a small-town athletic star who is the first in his family to attend a college, receiving a football scholarship to a prestigious university. When he returns home over Christmas break to the people he left behind - his family and friends - they are all surprised to see him with a new companion, Elizabeth, a pretty rich girl from Chicago. No one is more shocked than Mike's Homecoming queen ex-girlfriend, Shelby, who immediately wants to be rid of Elizabeth and plots to take care of the problem. Our story takes many twists and turns as Shelby does everything it takes to get Mike back.

On Friday, I reconnected with an old pal, director Morgan J. Freeman. I hadn't been in contact with Morgan for years, since he and actress Michelle Williams kindly consented to write for me when I was at Sony. Morgan's first big indie film, Hurricane Streets, won more awards at Sundance than any other film.

Now, the director is in Pittsburgh where he's in preproduction for a movie called Homecoming. It will star Mischa Barton and is co-written by Katie Fetting and Frank Hannah (who wrote the strange and fascinating The Cooler). Morgan told me that the movie is a scary thriller along the lines of Misery. In it, Mischa takes her ex boyfriend's new girlfriend hostage. But, according to Freeman, he'll ground the story in reality so that the movie "truly terrifies." Sounds like Mischa can truly stretch and show her chops as a bad girl in this one.

Filming begins on December 10th and runs through late January. Go Morgan! (I hope they get a day or so off for the holidays.)

Mischa. Villain. Horror. It sounds pretty great already if you ask me, lol. I'm really looking forward for more info on this. Hopefully that'll surface soon.

You never know, Jess. She could end up in a psych ward. Or the last moment is of her offing the guy or something, lol. Twisted endings to horror movies are more common these days.
