In all our glee about The OC getting cancelled- hee- we must not forget our sacred Ryan bashing duties! Title comes from Rachel Yamagata's "Quiet".

Rules

1. DO NOT bash Marissa's role in any pairing if you are going to bash one of her pairings; the rants need to stay rooted in the other character's behavior.

2. Criticism of statements in the press and acting of her co-stars is allowed. Complaints about the treatment of her by superiors as well as statements in the press is allowed. Don't escalate it to personal bashing.

3. DO NOT personally bash anyone close to Mischa.

4. Don't attack each other. This is not a debate thread.

5. Do not talk about O.C spoilers here; Mischa is no longer on the show. If her character gets brought up in the context of an episode, that's fine, but as spoilers are a sensitive subject, keep them off of this thread. If you want to talk OC spoilers, use spoiler text in the OT thread the same way we do with other shows we talk about.

6. Do not insult specific fanbases. Do not bring over word for word quotes if you're going to insult what's being said. You can only quote someone if you're agreeing with them.

7. Stay on topic. If you want to bring up a real life topic that does not concern Mischa, take it to OT.

8. This should go without saying, but DO NOT insult Mischa and DO NOT insult her fans.

We've had a lot of, erm, lurkers, so I'm going to repost this.

1. Mischa is not hurting for work since leaving The OC.

She has filmed two movies. She's signed on for two more. Her independent film she'd already filmed has done very well considering its extremely limited budget and she got praise for her role. Considering 90% of actors are out of work, they'd KILL for this.

2. We are not wishing ill on fellow cast members.

Peter, Rachel, Kelly, and Brody have all expressed the opinion that they believe the show has gone on long enough. Something, I might add, Mischa never did while on the show. I think the majority of the cast wants it to end as much as anyone; if they don't, that's the impression they've given off.

3. I do not think Mischa's departure is the ONLY reason the ratings dropped.

They're in a very hard time slot. Clearly their ratings are going to drop. But they CRASHED AND BURNED, to the point where OTH tied it or beat it a couple times. They have also not risen significantly in either the night it got switched (and don't give me not promotion; I saw Bones the previous hour and it was OVER promoted if anything, and retained about 43% of the audience when generally a show would need to retain around 80% of the Bones audience to survive) or in the nights GA has been a rerun. Would ratings be lower regardless? Certainly. Would they be THIS low? I don't think so, and from news outlets it seems experts agree with us. See the first page.

4. We are absolutely interested in the rest of Mischa's career.

Clearly, only this thread is read, which is fine but if people took one look at the rest of this board, they'd see how we obsess over every bit of movie news. Hell, I drove to another city to investigate her filming a movie there. We don't want Mischa stuck in The OC image forever. You know how that'll fade faster? When the show is OVER.

5. I have other reasons for being glad this 'experiment' failed.

I can't count the number of times I've said this, but I frequently like the characters that are not online adored and even when I don't, I see their worth to their shows. I don't want this to EVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I don't want to lose Meredith because TWoP doesn't like her, or Peyton. I don't want people who love Lost's Kate to lose her, or Smallville's Lana (never watched that show). I don't want it to seem like the opinions of a select few count for the whole. I want other show creators to see this as something that FAILED, that's not worth it, that means online viewers aren't everything. Listening to TWoP about a show that by virtue of the message board's rules is going to exclude their key demographic is INSANE to me, and hopefully other show creators will now see the same thing. That's what I wanted. I wanted this to fail so it never happens again.

6. I don't need Mischa's permission to be bitter.

My favorite TV character of all time is dead. I will never get anything for three years of watching her. The people whining about happy endings for their faves should think about what we got for two seconds; a sloppy death on the side of the road along with an insulting 'she was destined for tragedy' tagline. My favorite actress got let go, with NO respect from the show creator in the press (let's not pretend grudgingly admitting she wasn't an unprofessional brat is respect; he didn't so much as praise her for the final scene or show up while she was filming it. That's all she got for three years of hard work. Absolutely nothing). I don't need ANYONE'S permission to be bitter, even Mischa.

7. I did know who and care who Mischa was before this show.

I can only speak for myself, but I became a fan of hers on Once and Again, not The OC. I started watching The OC BECAUSE she was on it. I didn't start loving her because she was on The OC. And I am not alone. She had fans going into this, which is more than can be said for some completely unknown actors. She does not owe this show as much as some of the others, she'd been steadily working for more than half her life. She'd never gone even six months without a job. Look at her IMDB page.

And in closing, let's say it again.

If you gave me a car, and then ran me over with that car, I would not still be grateful you gave me the car.

I don't have to be fine with the end because of the beginning. Neither does Mischa, although she may be.

This reminds me of Marissa getting killed off. I don't watch Degrassi, I've only randomly heard of it, but they killed him off after SIX seasons? That must suck for his fans. LOL.

I've got a friend who LOOOOOVES Degrassi, and she is SO HEARTBROKEN. She literally grew up on this show, and he was her favorite character.

I haven't watched Degrassi in a looooong time, but from the sounds of it, he kind of did. His girlfriend had his baby, but they were broken up, and they gave it up for adoption. They were apart when he died, but apparently still in love with each other.

Although she just told me (very angrily) that in the episode after, she's kind of into someone else. And I thought Ryan was bad...

Yeah, he was with this girl Liberty..they've known eachother forever, and she was the nerd and he was kind of the "cooler guy" and eventually they got together and it was all cute and then she got pregnant,he got beat up and od'd on drugs...she broke up with him and gave the baby up for adoption and I haven't see any new episodes since then. So yeah,he was pretty tortured,I guess.
