Oh, I know the answer to that one. Because Meredith must be "dark and twisty" so all relationship problems are either her fault or on her to fix and take without fighting back, such as in Derek's proposal speech, where he acted like it was a strength because it enables her to take all his bull****, ignoring the fact that she shouldn't have to.
