Why are we even comparing Vaughn to Derek? LOL.

The other one actually IS romantic, barely even trying.

They're different circumstances, though. Derek is more real, coming out of a failed marriage, and trying to start anew, as are lots of people. He's not gonna BE like Vaughn.

Derek is in NO way more real than Vaughn, lol. Even in the fantasy world that is Alias. Derek is a caricature. He's not a character. He's McDreamy. Vaughn is an actual layered character. Vaughn isn't perfect, not really. But no one proclaims he is. Shonda shoves down on our throats, in dialogue of other characters and in her own interviews, that Derek is literally perfect. She calls him the 'world's most perfect man'. When in reality he falls SO short of characters like Vaughn it's not even funny.

And you haven't watched enough Alias to know what Vaughn is or isn't, I might add

Even if he wasn't brainwashed, Sydney was confirmed dead. They found someone with her DNA in her apartment after a fight/fire with Not!Francie! Then it took him 2 years to marry someone else. Whereas Derek moved on to some annoying nurse when Meredith didn't want to marry him, even though his divorce was finalized only months earlier.

And I could go on and on about how Vaughn is better than Derek. Sure Alias is definitely not grounded in reality, lol, but imo, the relationships on the show are 100x more earnest and real than the **** that is Grey's Anatomy. There's no way those people aren't living off penicillin because of all their STD's. LOL.

Derek has only slept with Meredith and his wife. I don't think that's cause for STD awareness. LOL.

Hello, MARK. George. LOL. Lexie's sexing up a guy she barely knows. The main couple is a result of a one night stand. Izzie's busting up marriages. Addison slept around on her husband, then slept with her student in a closet or something. Callie had a one night stand with Mark. The only one who doesn't sleep around is Cristina and that seems to be a more present-tense thing as she was blithely talking about how she used to regularly cheat on boyfriends, not to mention she and Burke hardly had an, erm, chaste courtship. This show is a show about sex, and to an only slightly lesser extent infidelity.

You're forgetting Olivia under George (and he got an STD from her, lol), and a couple randoms of Alex's. But that's not the point- you're also looking past the WAY a lot these started. Cristina and Burke had sex in an on-call room after saying all of five words to each other. Derek picked up Meredith in a bar. Callie picked up Mark in a bar. Izzie and George are a result of marital infidelity. Izzie and Alex never progressed past sex. George and Meredith are a one night stand. These are not safe-sex practices, for anyone.

We are way past being a society that waits to have sex until marriage, lol. And the only one I would consider VERY UNSAFE is Derek/Meredith and George/Olivia. The rest of them were together long enough to know if the partner had any diseases.

Actually, Izzie had known Alex long enough to know that he WAS a candidate for possible STDs as Olivia got the syph from Alex and gave it to George, lol. I didn't see her asking for a test result that he didn't have AIDS before having sex with him. And Cristina and Burke knew NOTHING about each other, they weren't even aware that neither one was having sex with anyone else until after Burke had already knocked her up (indicating their sex practices may have been less than safe). I fail to see how Callie would have known Mark didn't have STDs, or how Addison would have known Alex didn't as she knew he slept around.

There is a LONG way between "not waiting for marriage" and what this jacked up group of doctors are doing, lol.
