You don't see Kate making Sawyer want to be a better person? Okay. I think she's the cause for his change as a character. During the premiere, he was there for Hurley, asking if he needed help, telling him he's there to talk to him if he needs him. I think that kind part of Sawyer that we see comes from the love he gets from Kate, because he's been pretty much been devoid of true feeling and emotion for his whole life until he met her.

I wasn't really talking about the reverse. Kate is markedly better than Sawyer from what I've seen, lol. She's just a better person. Kate and Sawyer have, on paper, some similar crimes, but Sawyer has a vicious streak that she just flat-out doesn't have. I have no doubt Kate can offer Sawyer quite a bit more than he's had. I have every doubt that he can offer the same to her. I'm not particularly FOND of Sawyer, so I'm not all that concerned with what he gets out of the bargain, because I've seen him depicted as a character where nothing will fix what's broken inside of him at the end of the day. Who will always, all too easily, find a reason to treat her as shabbily as he did in the finale. Bad boys don't reform, not REAL bad boys like Sawyer. It may look like they will...but not so much, lol. And I haven't seen any indication the change in Sawyer has been SO profound that he will be the kind of person to inspire HER to be more, to want more, to realize that she deserves more.

It's like what Kate told Jack in the finale, "Sawyer wouldn't do the same for you." I don't think Sawyer loves Kate enough to put his own bs aside and put HER feelings first. At least not yet. Maybe it'll happen as the season progresses, who knows. Although...

I don't think Sawyer is CAPABLE of that where it counts. I think he's simply too profoundly damaged. This is not Pacey. This is not Logan. Sawyer really is that bad guy your mama warns you about, and warns you about for a reason.

We are really getting nowhere debating this,lol. My favorite characters are Kate and Sawyer, yours is Jack. It's a hopeless cause. The WRITERS can't even agree.
