That website is amazing! No wonder she seemed to be in hiding for awhile, lol, she must have been working on this!

I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest.........

If it's a success then excellent, but yet more confusion about what Mischa actually is - actress or fashion designer? And if I'm honest the thought of "Mischa the Brand" makes me a little uncomfortable as this is a very similar route to that taken by Paris Hilton (!) and it could look like Mischa is doing this because she can't make a success of her acting, some people, especially in the Web media, are probably going to say that........ I notice one of the jackets is called the "Mary Jane" which could be a bit of a risk given some past photos.........

The idea of her being kept busy by it though is a nice thought!

I don't agree.

Every actress and their mother moves into branding as soon as they can. Most of them go into fragrance only, but several have their own lines. Everyone from Lauren Conrad to Beyonce have businesses outside of their main professions.

I'm with Sam- many successful actors and musicians have created their own brand of something or the other (clothes, cosmetics, etc). Mischa has had a lot of success with her handbag line, she clearly has a knack for it and obviously enjoys it.

I wonder if they are going ahead with a physical store location in the UK as well?

I'm with Sam as well. I don't see it as anything different than an actor or actress taking a step behind the camera to write or direct. It's just another creative outlet that Mischa has allowed herself and has found some success in, and more power to her. I don't think she should have to be defined as just an actress.

Being male, I'm not really in the market for any of this stuff and I would also like to see her in acting projects, but I think it's great that she's found another way to express herself and I hope she finds great success in it. I doubt she'd turn her back on acting completely, and it's nice for her to leave her mark on another industry.

It would be slightly more worrying if Mischa had stopped acting altogether to focus only on this project. But since she's probably currently on set as I type this, and has recently wrapped several projects, it's pretty cool, imo, that she's working hard in both areas.

I didn't know that this was widespread among actresses/artists so my apologies! It's just something about it makes me uneasy, I'm not sure what though........ Maybe I'd hoped she'd be different to the others.

Anyway, if it's a success, and distinctive - the handbags certainly are - then Excellent And at least Mischa has more ability than Paris - who's only real talents are self-promotion and attention-seeking!

What I like about Mischa's steps into this direction is that she's doing things really thoughtfully. As she's previously stated, companies have offered her lines and such in the past. But in the case of the handbags, she waited until the fit was right.

And now with this next step, I was just looking up the manufacturer of the beauty products, and the company is all about a more natural slant and having products not tested on animals. And using eco-friendly soy candles instead of the paraffin based alternatives. And they're part of some indie beauty network. So that all sounds very Mischa.

I like the natural aspect too, that seems responsible and very Mischa.

I think they need to get some real models in the clothes asap, though. Would that many people really buy things at some of those prices without seeing what the finished product looks like on a person?

And if they don't have the budget to a hire a model at this early stage, then I would urge them to get Mischa in the clothes as soon as she has a free second.

Mischa is really an ideal choice regardless, because Mischa is one of those people who can make an otherwise unflattering outfit look good. She's a great model in that way.

This is an extract from Mischa's recent Huffington Post article:

Quote:
The British-born actress has flown under the radar for the past few years, but little did we know that Barton has been expanding on her eponymous handbag line that she launched last fall. "Accessorizing has always been my favorite means of sprucing up an ensemble, which is one of the reasons I've launched my own handbag line," said Barton. "It'll culminate in my own boutique in London this spring that also includes clothes and make-up"
She seems to confirm the opening of a physical location too

London is a good place since her style is so British-influenced.
