Mischa's only 19!!: Underage drinking

So....after seeing a couple posts here and some at other boards...I have to wonder if Mischa is actually drinking at nightclubs and parties, etc. I'm sure she is. But I'm not sure of my feelings about this. The legal drinking age in America is 21. Why does Mischa and other teenage stars think that this law doesn't apply to them? As an actress on a wildly popular tv show, Mischa is a role model to millions of young women everywhere. Won't her underage drinking affect her image?

Weeeelllll...I'll be frank. I drank at clubs when I wasn't 21 (I am now, and I don't do the club scene a lot because it's not my thing). So I don't really consider it a cardinal sin. It's practically required in L.A. There's only been the one picture of her where she looked like she might be drunk, and even then it's not like she had a drink in her hands, so she seems to make an effort to keep any drinking she does from the press.

I don't know if Mischa drinks or not. I hope not but you never know. As for alcohol itself and drinking to the point of getting drunk I absolutely can't stand. I know because my dad is an alcoholic and I know how it can affect you or those around you. Mischa IS only 19 and shouldn't be drinking.

Oh please, she's a teenager. We drink. As long as she's responsible about it and doesn't drive it doesnt matter.

I definately think she shouldnt be drinking, the thing is if she spends some of her time over in the UK where she is legal (its 18 here) then she may be more tempted to drink when she's in the States too.

I think if it becomes really obvious that she is drinking at clubs etc it will damage her reputation and lead to negative consequences.

eta: nbsarah im legal and I dont drink, I've seen first hand what it can do to people.

Not to go too far into real life topics here because this is a fun board, but when you say "drink", are you indicating people who are legal (such as myself) shouldn't drink at all? Because I have the occasional cocktail at a restaurant or glass of wine with dinner and I SERIOUSLY don't think I have a problem because of it. I don't have alcohol more than once a week (too expensive) and I've been drunk maybe twice in the past year (I AM a college student, lol). I've seen what alcohol can do to people, too. Both my uncles are alcoholics and both my grandparents before them. I learned and I drink responsibly. Whether or not someone drinks is their choice, of course. But nineteen year olds are GOING to drink for the most part, and it doesn't make them bad kids as long as they're responsible about it.

I guess I should have worded it better, I too drink at formal events and what not though actually I have chosen not to this past year. Basically I meant the sort of exessive drinking that occurs at parties and in some occasions can lead to problems later on.

Never did I mean to sound like I was saying it was wrong to drink when your legal . I think its given that pretty much everyone does. I was mainly just commenting on nbsarah's post to say that not all teenagers drink.

Yeah, it's not surprising. I don't really drink-drink (I'm 20), but I do have Strawberry Daquiries and White wine every now and then.

Gotcha. Cool I actually didn't drink as a high schooler. Not even once outside the presence of my mother (who occasionally let me have a glass of champagne. I was the ultimate goody-goody, lol. I loosened up a bit since going to college, but I've still never driven a car drunk, got so drunk I passed out or threw up, or been drunk more than once a month (and even that's gone way down as I've gotten a little older). Drinking responsibly is absolutely important, especially when you're so young.

Drinking on proper occasion is okay but not to the point of getting drunk.

I personally think if someone is desperate enough to drink their problems away, at HOME its totallly fiine but not in a club or anything..im 16 and i drink like every weekend but havent been drunk in like over a year..

Mischas rep would be ruined if she came out of clubs drunk, the paperatzi (sp*?) would be all over that..
