I had a feeling this was going to happen.

And People is exaggerating a bit as is their policy, she says it's not a good idea "now", not "NEVER AGAIN!!!!", but I think she probably feels like that right now, lol She went from having a positive experience with the writing and the response but not good enough ratings on Once and Again, to a negative experience with the writing and feeling ignored by the producers of the show on The OC, not to mentioned blamed for the show's every failing and ridiculed for her every scene, to a HORRIBLE experience with the network on The CW.

Mischa Barton On ‘Beautiful Life’ Cancellation: The Best Was Yet To Come

NEW YORK, New York --
Mischa Barton’s “The Beautiful Life” may have been short-lived, but the actress said the canceled CW series showed a lot of promise. In fact, she says, the best was yet to come.

“We were really such a great show and the first two episodes were nothing. We shot amazing, big episodes – episodes four, five and six – and it’s stuff that no one will ever see,” she told Access Hollywood at Monday night’s Whitney Museum gala in New York City.

“But they were unable to bring in an audience to it. It’s like they’ve got two other franchises going on there at the same time, and we got swallowed up,” she added of The CW. “It’s more their loss, I think. It could’ve been I think a really, really cool show.”

And while the show may not have survived very long, Mischa said she was appreciative of the fans who hopped on board the “Beautiful” bandwagon while they could.

“It was really sweet after [the show was canceled] because all these people Twittered the next day, like 10,000 people Twittered trying to save the show and stuff,” Mischa continued. “It reminded me how important the core fan base is. Whatever bulls**t gets written, you know you’ve got fans out there who care.”

As for Mischa herself, who said she is “moving on” and looking at various film and TV scripts, following the series’ cancellation, she is enjoying adjusting to life spent on the East Coast.

“I’m loving it!” she said of staying in New York. “All my girlfriends live here, so it’s nice to be bi-coastal and just go back and forth. I’m not giving up on Los Angeles, of course, but you know.”

Mischa Barton, More Shake Up Whitney Gala

When Mischa Barton rolls into the Whitney Museum of American Art Gala held Monday in NYC, she doesn’t stay long. The former O.C. star makes a mad dash outside for a cigarette with a glamorous blonde friend 45 minutes later.

Smoking is a needed vice for the 23-year-old who saw her TV dreams resurrected and destroyed when The Beautiful Life was canceled last month.

“Before I was looking to make that show interesting, and that’s why it sucks that no one’s going to see the best episodes of it,” she says. “And now I’m changing course and what I feel like doing is a really interesting, young woman role.”

She continues, “I’m keeping my options open, obviously, but it’s too early to say [what's next]. I don’t know what it’s going to be – I have to read through tons of scripts. You have no idea what an ordeal it is before you agree to something.”

Getting gym time with girlfriends keeps her spirits up. “I work out at Equinox,” she says. “Equinox is the best. It’s got everything. I do all kinds of stuff.”

LOL @ People. SHE'S QUIT FOREVER! Plus, she really made mention of network television. Which makes me think she's really got beef with the NETWORK and not television itself.

I am confident that one day she can find an interesting TV role that will let her have more creative input on a show that will be embraced by a network. Keep strong, Meesh. I'd like a weekly fix again.

Whitney Museum Gaga: Donatella Versace Hosts A-List Guest List, Glamour Girls Decked Out in Versace's Finest

On Monday night in Manhattan, the Whitney Museum of American Art hosted it's annual gala event, which brought out NYC's Versace-clad beauties.

The glamorous event was hosted by Donatella Versace, the perfect hostess to handle such high star wattage.

"She's just cool, everyone knows that.

She's got that sexy vibe and she lives it," Mischa Barton said.

Versace gowns and dresses were the favorite among the A-List crowd with the majority of the attendee's wearing glam-o-rama creations courtesy of Donatella.

The ruching on the bodice and flowing skirt looked absolutely perfect on Hudson and I am thrilled to see her back out and about.

We are all rooting for her. The Versace gown Mischa Barton wore to the event would be hard to pull off for most people with it's boxy neckline and nipped / tucked side pleating.

But it's rare that she looks bad in anything with her model figure and Mischa shined in an asymmetrical royal blue satin gown.

The color was to-die-for and with her long flowing looks, she looked like a goddess.

Mischa Barton Asks That You Not Take Her Painting Too Seriously

When we caught up with Mischa Barton at the Whitney Museum of American Art's gala this week, we asked if she had artistic aspirations beyond just acting. "Well, we have paint parties at my house, and everyone comes over and paints on blank canvases, and just does things for fun," she told us. "My kind of art has always been film. That’s my primary interest, and everything else is just a hobby."
