We have the first casualty of the fall season.

After two episodes, The CW has canceled Ashton Kutcher’s scripted drama “The Beautiful Life.”

Wednesday’s episode was seen by just 1 million viewers and generated a 0.5 rating in the adult demo.

The decision comes on the heels of two reality show pickups by the network, “Fly Girls” and a Tinsley Mortimer docusoap.

The CW’s freshman revamp of “Melrose Place” has had difficulty achieving liftoff as well, but Thursday night’s “Vampire Diaries” has been performing strong. Last night’s third “Diaries” episode grew in the adult demo despite facing increased competition.

The CW has not yet announced a replacement for the “Beautiful Life” slot. The new reality shows won’t be ready until January. One option is airing “Melrose Place” encores (like the way the network double-pumped “90210″ last season). Another option, less likely, is to bring “Smallville” back into the midweek mix. “Smallville” was shifted to Friday nights for its final season and debuts this evening.

I'm with you guys on Mischa doing a cable show. I'm still holding out hope on her guest-starring/joining Breaking Bad.

And I just think those kind of shows are more up Mischa's alley; more her style. She can be as dark and gritty as she wants, and hopefully get recognition for it.

She's far too good for a 'teen' type of show, and I feel she's past that now.

I'm really itching for some news :S I know its way too soon for anything to happen but I hope it's not long before something comes up.

The Stacey Lapidus website and the handbag collection website are both on hiatus. It's like everything Mischa halted last week.

Unfortunately, I think such a quick cancellation has stalled her- she was contractually obligated to keep this time open and it wasn't like with The OC where when she was let go, it was at the end of the season when she'd already set up a movie. She'd likely turned down assignments in order to keep herself available for TBL, and now she's kind of got to start from scratch- look at scripts, etc.

Yeah, we'll just have to wait for pilot season. I dunno about "Science of Cool" which starts in November, I think. She might've added that in her TBL contract since it's shooting close-by I think and she was attached before TBL was picked up.

That was a really nice, honest interview. Good for Sara. And I'm so sorry for them that they didn't get any kind of chance, as Sara said, to succeed or fail. Two episodes is incredibly quick to yank a series without realizing you hadn't promoted it and making some sort of effort to make it work.

I'm not worried about Mischa like I said before she's gonna overcome this but in the same time I'm bitter at the CW

Hooray for Sara! I would be pissed too if I had been through what she has been through. That's a lot of money and heartache to be pulled after just two episodes. I can't believe that they aren't even airing the last few that they shot. But I'm glad she was honest about it and I hope Mischa does an interview like this in the future. The show never got a chance and I don't have a problem with any of the actors being vocal about it.

Hey, I'm from the Ben McKenzie board. Anyways, I just thought I'd say that I really feel for Mischa and hope she's okay. She's been through a lot this year. Hope she overcomes this.
