According to the CW's Paul McGuire, Barton's upcoming drama The Beautiful Life, which begins production July 22 and premieres Sept. 16, will not be affected by the incident.

INSIDE STORY: Mischa Barton 'Dealing with Personal Issues'

Almost a year after describing her DUI arrest as "a low point," Mischa Barton – who called police with a health problem Wednesday – may be hitting another rough patch.

"She has been dealing with a lot of personal issues," a pal tells PEOPLE about the actress who has been spotted club hopping in L.A. and London the past few months. "I don't know if she really ever gave up some of the bad habits that had gotten out of control a couple years back."

The 23-year-old actress was scheduled to attend the premiere of her movie Homecoming Thursday night in New York City but remained at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where she was reportedly placed under psychiatric hold.

Filmmaker Wishes Her Well
"I wish her all the best. First and foremost, we want her to get healthy again," Homecoming producer Austin Stark tells PEOPLE. "It's obvious we'd like her to support the movie and be here, but we hope she gets better."

And of shooting Homecoming with Barton in Pittsburgh, Stark says, "When she was on-set, she acted like a professional. I honestly had no complaints. She struck me as a nice young girl, she never said anything mean to anyone, and she wasn’t late on-set or anything like that."

I'm not going to speculate, or pay much attention to the speculation. If even half of what is said about celebs was true, Angelina would have killed herself 15 times by now, only to resurrect herself to break up with Brad another 20 times and disown half her children so she can steal some more. Whatever's going on, I only hope it works out for the best.

Im just more concerned now than I was cause I feel her publicists would SQUASH all the stories if they were at liberty to discuss the situation.

Hope we hear some good news about it soon.

The story clearly has validity. Her rep hasn't said a word and they wouldn't let "Mischa's in a psych ward" go if untrue. I just hope she gets better.

I spoke with a family representative about Mischa’s condition, and the horrible unnecessary gossip that is now all over the internet.

Interestingly NONE of the sites posting today’s information have confirmed what I know or what the facts are.

As I reported Last night, Mischa has been on pain medication for complications arising from oral surgery to remove impacted wisdom teeth.

Mischa is simply being observed and monitored while in the hospital and may have had a reaction to her medications.

From Los Angeles Times 8:40 PT — Reporting that Mischa, one of the stars signed to Ashton Kutcher’s production, “The Beautiful Life” is to begin filming in New York City next week, and Mischa is still scheduled to move there. According to a source at CBS Television Studios, the show’s production has not yet been disrupted.

Barton has been cast as an aging — the actress is 23 — model.

Mischa has been on pain medication and I spoke with a family representative and confirmed that Mischa Barton was taken to the hospital due to complications from oral surgery.

Contrary to the gossip that has been tweeted by the LA Police and Access Hollywood there was nothing illicit going on as was implied.

Why would she be admitted to the psych ward? And why wouldn't her rep explain that?

Does being placed on a psych hold literally mean she's been admitted as a psych patient? And that it cant still have anything to do with another condition?

Im not even sure that I believe the Access Hollywood "source" yet. But the fact that her publicist isnt clarifying anything adds more credence to it.

I would fire that whole time in a second, lol. They are doing NOTHING to control this fire.

Based on her reps vague statements, I'm guessing this is more serious than oral surgery, which he could have just said.
