Sam_MC - I guess you just made the first step to fame.

No, but seriously, it's true Mischa's behavior wasn't very intelligent but the way the media responds you'd think she's Charles Manson or something. She's a young girl who made a mistake, simple as that. Who hasn't been drunk yet? I've got friends who have pulled something like that before and huh, let's say they're still my friends. This is bad but no reason to write a person off or talk like this about him/her.

SatC!

That article made me laugh so hard. What the ****? What are we supposed to be? Act like she's a murderer and hope she ends up in hell? We know what she did was wrong. People need to calm down.

Mischa Barton Photos & Pics | Mischa Pulls Out of Vegas Hosting Duties

Who knows if she'll actually host. Page Six isn't the most reliable source!

Whoever wrote the blog that quoted Sam and people from Mischa-forums.com doesn't "know" Mischa at all. And I think it's really tacky to actually call her fans out by their usernames and basically call them an idiot.

That's sad news about Mischa pulling out of her hosting duties. Hopefully it's not true. *crosses fingers* She needs something positive in her life right now, but I guess I would understand if she did pull out. Perhaps she just needs time to herself, before being thrusted back into the spotlight.

As regards the blog....I do know all the ppl the *ugh* blogger mentioned, they're my friends from other boards...so I HAD to reply wtf she was making fun of us!!! My comment is still awaiting moderation 'though and I seriously doubt she'll publish it lol XD (but I dont care, at least she'll read it! )

LMFAO. I'd laugh really hard if it didn't get published because ththe end of the blog she made it clear that if you disagree feel free to post, she values "all" opinions

We'll wait and see

I'd understand her pulling out of the gig because the press would just want to talk about her DUI. And, honestly, there's nothing for her to "explain" besides what she did was wrong.

DP, but it looks like she won't be hosting according to E's quote from CatHouse. It's for the best, imo.

I think it's good that she's not going to jump right back into work. IMO, some time needs to go by for this all to kind of blow over. I also think the best possible thing she can do right now is issue a public apology for her actions and bad behavior. The best thing to do in this kind of situation is admit that you made a mistake.

DUI star’s feet of clay could hurt Keds’ image
Actress Mischa Barton’s arrest on Thursday in West Hollywood reverberated across the country to Lexington, posing a quandary for the guardians of the iconic Keds sneaker brand.

Barton, the public face of Keds as its spokesperson, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license, and possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. Not poster girl behavior for a 91-year-old brand that has long projected a wholesome image.

In a statement yesterday, Keds said it was “assessing the situation and gathering all the facts.”

While some branding and crisis management professionals believe Keds should cut ties with the former “OC” star to avoid sullying its reputation, others suggested Keds’ targeted demographic may be immune to the growing list of celebrity transgressions by the likes of Barton, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan.
“So much of this is happening that people have become numb to it,” said Suzanne Hogan, a senior brand strategy consultant at Lippincott Mercer in New York. “An old and very established brand with a very wholesome image can probably recover quickly. There’s more to the brand than the celebrity endorsement.”

Keds hired Barton in 2004 and in October extended her contract through next summer. The company, which has been repositioning Keds as a more premium and fashionable brand, believed her image as a “style influencer” could make Keds more appealing to younger customers, particularly 19- to 30-year-old women.

But Keds also sells kids’ sneakers, and parents could be turned off by a pitchwoman up on alcohol and drug charges, said David Close, vice president at Waltham’s Schwartz Communications.

“They’re in a really tough spot,” he said. “In this case, I think Keds just has to drop her.”

Keds should respond with a statement to its customers, said Mike Brewer, executive vice president at Brodeur, a Boston public relations firm. “It can affect Keds if they don’t manage it well,” he said.

I can't say I would blame Keds. They have a business to run. I wouldn't be surprised if she signed a contract saying that if anything like this happened, they would have to drop her. These are the consequences and it... sucks.

Exactly, Amy. She needs time for this to blow over. CNN just did a segment on her, for ****s sake. LOL. It's just not good. She needs time.

Keds has a hard decision to make, they do have a business to run, so I'm assuming they need to figure out if it's going to hard them by keeping her on. I would actually be surprised if they drop her, especially if they have campaigns ready to go and need to re-shoot it all with a replacement.

Oh, please. Kate Moss became the worlds biggest supermodel over her crap and is backed by the biggest brands in the world. And Vanessa Hudgens is still a Disney darling after her nude photos came out and her whole career is focused on children and tweens.

I don't understand the sense in sending a message to the world that making one mistake in your life should cost you everything you worked for. If Mischa had done this before and if she does it again, cutting her contract would then be understandable. Give the girl a break. She's obviously done wonders for the Keds brand otherwise they wouldn't have extended her contract...twice!

I'm now more aggravated over the ridiculous repercussions people are expecting than of the actual incident. For ****'s sake.

Oh, I'm not saying I AGREE with Keds dropping her. Kate Moss was doing coke and apparently, she's still okay to represent a variety of brands, lol. I just think Keds could go either way. It's their decision, whatever they decide.

And I certainly don't believe in Mischa, or anyone, losing everything after one mistake. Things that aren't habitual, that happen ONCE, shouldn't define anyone.
