Seriously. Of course, it doesn't seem like a lot of her fans are doing that. It threw a little gasoline on her haters' fire, but whatever. I'm still a fan of her work and, frankly, her in general. This one incident hasn't ruined her for me, and it really shouldn't. We all do stupid stuff.

I just think it's ridiculous that her fans are being judged for "sticking by her." It doesn't mean we agree with what she did, but we're also not self righteous enough to judge something we know nothing about. And I'm not going to act like she murdered someone, so whatever. I just feel like people are going completely overboard. Like, wishing her death? Honestly.

Oh, I know. By "sticking by her," I'm not saying "Hey everyone, let's shotgun beers and go out and drive our cars, because drunk driving is AWESOME!" I do not condone drunk driving at all. But if a family member or friend of mine did it, I wouldn't completely change my view of them, because lets be honest, I've had friends who've done the same thing Mischa did. They might not have gotten caught, but that's not the point. It shouldn't be done. But I certainly don't think those people are awful people and I haven't stopped being friends with them. They are the same people they've always been, they just made a bad choice. And it's disappointing, but not reputation-shattering. They still have good hearts.

I don't think anyone here condones drunk driving. But #1, chances are most of us have people we care about who've made the mistake. God knows I have. And #2, at the end of the day, I do not know Mischa, lol. I know her work. Her acting, her modeling, her endorsements. My standards for star fandom are lower than friend fandom. I still love Shannen Doherty and Angelina Jolie, lol. I certainly don't condone or approve, but this is no dealbreaker.

I was by no means implying I know Mischa at all, lol, nor was I comparing her to a friend's status. I don't know what kind of person she is, but she presents herself as a nice, intelligent person. Now all this junk is everywhere, and everyone's saying "Mischa is an awful person" and yada yada. Just because you do something like this does not make you an awful person. It's a little careless, but it's ONE incident out of your whole life. It shouldn't be considered, at the bottom line, when you are deciding what kind of person someone is.

But if it's something I wouldn't hold against a friend, why the hell would I hold it against someone I see on television or in movies? It's much easier to judge someone who's not tangible, like a celebrity. Sometimes people should put things into perspective. (Now Britney Spears, comment away. She keeps making ****ty decisions and if a friend were to act like that, they would be a friend no longer)

What she did was an extremely careless thing to do, but it's not the end all be all of life.

Jess, I love how I type these long-ass paragraphs and you say exactly what I was trying to say in a single sentence. LOL. I'm way too verbose.

I love your wordy paragraphs!

I know people who only have 2-3 drinks and still drive. And I don't shun them for life...

People say that when she wears the wrong shade of black lol. Broken record.

I think Mischa will just have to prove herself and show that she's never had a history of reckless behaviour. This was a mistake that any young person can make. The telling thing will be how she behaves following this incident cause I think people are quick to judge but they are also capable of quickly moving on.

The ball is basically in her court. If I was her, I'd publicly talk about how stupid it was in a statement to People or something. Taking about it and highlighting how idiotic it is to drink and drive can only help her situation, imo.

I think that its best to do something like you said. Do a big interview on the whole thing, were she really regrads her actions, and people are also quick to forgive her.

Apparently my comments on mischa-b were a bit controversial lol! Someone has chosen to write a blog about it:
Mischa Barton Gets DUI and Some Fans Just Ignore the Unflattering News | Sofa Chip

People think fans who support Mischa are some kind of airheads. Why can't people understand that not everyone disowns a person for making a mistake?
