It's related to Steve Carell, who worked with Amy Adams on The Office, who was in Junebug with Ben, who worked on The No.C with Mischa.

Over the last week I've become really fed up with the lack of info on this so I tried contacting the production company, no reply. Tried finding contact info for the Director, no luck. Tried producers/cinematographers which all led me back to Origin Features.

So I put on my detective cap and found out that Luke Kasdan actually filed a law suit against Origin Entertainment in July this year! Unfortunately full details are blocked unless you pay $20: Im not that desperate for details lol.

Anyway, this is the most I could find:
"Luke Kasdan v. Origin Entertainment Group. Filmmaker Luke Kasdan claims Nicole Peluso continued to assume the rights of his screenplay and film “Don’t Fade Away” after her option agreement expired. New filing CD California."

From what I understand about option agreements, a producer pays an X amount to the writer of the screenplay which essentially holds this screenplay for an X amount of time. This stops other companies from developing the same title.

The company that paid for the option can then begin development within the period of the option agreement, however principal photography doesn't usually begin until complete rights have been transferred from the writer to the company.

In this particular case it looks like they had an agreement to film Don't Fade Away without completely exercising the option so Luke Kasdan maintained rights to the film. I'm assuming that Origin never coughed up the final cost of transferring total rights but they went about business as if they owned the property.

I also remember reading comments about Origin not paying extras for their time working on the film; they seem kinda shady. I wonder if this lawsuit means that the film will be shelved indefinitely, or if Luke Kasdan is trying to sever contractual ties with Origin and sell the movie to another company.

Just noticed that origin features has been removed from the company credits listing on IMDB. I wonder if this means that Luke Kasdan won the suit and is now shopping around for distribution?

This title was removed from Mischa's IMDB listing. IMDB sucks :S

They don't even have Homecoming listed and I submitted that for amendment weeks ago.
