Great question Sam...we're currently waiting for our funding to come in. That's what it all comes down to. As soon as that happens, everything should be going according to plan. We're hoping to shoot sometime this summer, but like I said, it all comes down to when our funding comes through, if at all.

Things happen in this industry, and unfortunately promises aren't always kept, the best we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed. Everyone's working extremely hard in order to get this production financed and started.

Exclusive : Writer talks Science of Cool

A couple of weeks ago we reported on a new film that Mischa Barton's set to star in titled "The Science of Cool". In the film, two teenagers, the biggest science geeks in school, come upon a formula which can transform nerds into studs.

The writer of the film, Eric Goren, dropped us a line offering to answer any questions we may have considering the project.

According to Goren, Barton is playing "one of the female leads, Jane, who is a girl who is teased and picked on for being "too plain", Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights) who will playing the role of the nerdy Neil Tobbler, who is the leading male character who "by accident" discovers a formula in science class which transforms geeks into studs."

The scribe also says Masiela Luscha (''The George Lopez Show''), Kiely Williams (''The Cheetah Girls''), and Jessie Cave (''Harry Potter'' series), among others, are also in talks.

''We are also in talks with a number of very popular actors and actresses from TV shows such as Gossip Girl and 90210, and many A list actors from the big screen that everyone in the world will recognize. Tamara Tunie, our director, will be possibly acting in The Science of Cool too."

Eric Goren and Patricia Goren penned this project and Carlucci Weyant and Eric Goren from Double Helix Entertainment producing the picture. A Summer '09 startdate is planned.

Jason Mewes Joins The Science Of Cool

Screenwriter Eric Goren revealed to us earlier today that Jason Mewes has just signed on as one of the leads opposite Mischa Barton in The Science of Cool. The movie tells the story of two science-loving nerds who stumble on a cool formula, turning them into studs.

Here’s how Goren says Mewes fits: “Jason will be playing the role of Coach Cambria, the obnoxious gym teacher who torments the nerdy leads Neil and Gilbert. We also have Mischa Barton on board to play the leading female role of Jane, who is a very plain and ordinary girl until she ends up as part of the science experiment that Neil and Gilbert concoct.”

The movie sounds a little bit Weird Science meets The Nutty Professor to me, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. With the popularity of teen sex comedies it’s sort of amazing someone hasn’t done something like this already. Besides, with Obama as president science is cool again. If you’re a nerd, what better way to get the girl? Grab a bow tie and a Bunsen burner America, Mischa Barton is just one chemical accident away.

Since stepping away from his Jay character to play something different in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Mewes has been pretty busy. Counting this one, Jason now has at least eight movies on his schedule, and none of them involve Kevin Smith.
