Mischa was awesome in the part. Her facial expressions were perfection, especially in the scene where Teddy basically proposes. It's so sad. I've realized I've been depressed since I watched this film. It's so ****ing SAD that she never moved on.

And how awesome was Mischa clicking into two different Ethels. The naive and happy one then the sad and angry one.

The scene where Jack tries to hug her (before she covers the wall) was handled with...perfection. Seriously, I cannot say enough how much I loved her in this role. I definitely wanted more Young Ethel.

What did you think of the movie as a whole? Say if Mischa wasn't in it?

I thought it was good, actually. I sorta got really into the movie, for some reason. LOL. Usually when I watch a movie, I can pause it and do other stuff and what not, but I actually sat and watched this as a whole.

I would have liked more in the flashbacks cause the bit about the war and the fighting felt quite out of place.

Oh, I agree. I would have loved more flashbacks, especially more stuff between Jack/Ethel.

Well cause Young Jack bares little importance to Young Ethel and therefore extra Jack/Ethel scenes wouldn't have really added anything to the story.

Well, clearly he has a great importance considering he's the one still alive when they're older, and ends the movie with her. LOL.

And I think we could have been shown that Ethel loved Jack, too, at least more than goofy Chuck. Like, she could have been happier with him.

I didn't say the character wasn't significant in the context of the movie. The point of the flashbacks was to highlight Ethel/Teddy cause ultimately that's what the struggle in the movie is about.

Having extra interaction between Ethel/Jack or Ethel/and that other dude could have cheapened that message. We were supposed to believe in this "true love" thing between Ethel/Teddy and that's how it played out. Had they hinted at something more between Ethel/Jack in the flashbacks, then Ethel's misery wouldn't have made sense.

I dunno, maybe I was reading into it, but I saw something between Jack/Ethel, moreso than Chuck/Ethel. Ethel was clearly 100% with Teddy, no doubt, but I couldn't help but think (and the 1991 stuff further cemented my belief) that Ethel and Jack would have been happy together if she got Teddy's message. She wouldn't have chosen Chuck. She would have chosen Jack. IMO.

I'd agree with that definitely. But I also think the movie couldn't exist with Ethel being happy, you know? The whole thing is about Ethel coming full circle; "closing the ring"

And had Jack been the one to marry her instead of Chuck, the there wouldn't be a story to tell.

Yeah, you're right. I just feel really depressed right now because of the film. I needed a happy ending to feel good. :/
