It was, even though their deaths were actually well handled compared to Marissa and Laurel.

Laurel's actually felt a bit like Marissa's, if I'm able to pull away from the emotion I personally felt when Marissa died. Like "..Really? That's it?"

At least Marissa's last words weren't praising her cheating ex boyfriend's new relationship.

That was truly...surreal. It shoulda been Sara with her at the end. Her father and Sara.

I think killing off someone else would have been the better move and I probably would have chosen Diggle because he really hasn't added anything to the show in years.

I like Diggle in general, but admittedly I've been a half-assed viewer for years. On the whole, I think killing off characters who are beloved/important to the narrative is overrated period.

He was much better in the first two seasons and after that he really didn't add a lot to the show after those seasons imo.

In the first two seasons, I'd argue he was essential. I've paid less attention to the show since S4ish, lol. I honestly don't know who is essential now. Arrow is not a true ensemble the way some other superhero shows are- it's very much based on Oliver himself. So to some extent, you have to be essential to Oliver to be essential to the plot. And that has some gaps, because Oliver is not the most fun human being. You have to be HELLA sure of your lead to play it like that.

I would too, it's just after that he hasn't been adding a lot to the show and he has been annoying in the last few episodes too (the whole Civil War drama has been horrible though) At the start of the show, Stephen definitely wasn't an good enough actor for that to work and despite him improving, the show was gotten worse.

I've kept like, one eye on the "civil war" thing, and literally no one asked for this.

Still weird to think Stephen started his career with a movie with Mischa, lol. Six degrees and all that.
