Oh wow, that is very different

I had no idea! It would've been cool to see that, but I do really like the Vanessa on the show.

As much as I complain about the show and RM, they did a really great job at establishing that whole 'head over heels' thing with Marissa and Ryan. They were both so interesting to each other that it was really easy to buy into how quickly but deeply they connected.

That's true. RM were written really well for most of S1 until the Oliver thing really. And Ben and Mischa clearly had a lot of chemistry.

I always am shocked when I hear people say they didn't. I actually thought they had more chemistry than Adam and Rachel who were actually dating (though if an SS fan reads this post, they'll probably kill me). I'm not saying Adam and Rachel didn't have chemistry. They did, but I definitely felt they were a bit overrated and I don't understood all the hate RM got. I can understand people hating them after the Oliver thing, but I actually saw tons of hate even before that and I just didn't get it.

I really felt that the reason Josh messed up RM in later seasons (and changed Ryan somewhat) is because a lot of fans hated RM and didn't like Riss. I don't see why he couldn't have just given them more likable storylines instead of the stupid triangles and excess drama and given her a bit less drama.

Some of my favorite moments on the show are actually RM as good friends. Ben and Mischa's chemistry really shines through in those scenes. Too bad Josh didn't capitalize on it. It seemed like the minute they'd get back together, there would be some other obstacle in their way making them both miserable.

I personally believe the hate against RM and Marissa was all just an online illusion. I've said this a million times before, but it's always silly for writers of any show to listen to diehard fans through the internet because people basically only use the net for extreme opinions.

I definitely agree with you on the last point about them being friends. And not just Ryan/Marissa, but everyone. There was very little screen time between any of them if it didn't involve a love triangle.
