Yeah I know. In my mind her and Seth sailed away.

I wrote this poem and I think it fits Marissa and how she thought she hurt Ryan. So here goes.

I see the way you look at me
and how your heart aches
for me to change

but you've given up on me
as you just shake your head
and look the other way

it wasn't you who held back those tears
and fought with yourself to not
breakdown and cry

I see the pain the I caused
how can you deny? why do you even try to lie
when its written all over your face

it wasn't you who never had the words
to make up your mind
but I know it isn't you who
never got the chance to mutter a goodbye.

I know and they had their reasons. Both of them were hurt by Ryan.

I know that their initial connection and friendship seemed more real to life than most on the show- like in 210 when they were talking on the phone, who didn't talk to their best friend like that in high school? It's disappointing that Josh moved at the speed of light with the ratings stunt- they could've been another Jessie/Katie.

I know they could've been. There was so much that Josh could have did but didn't.

Josh didn't know how to balance anything. There was not ONE relationship he created that was balanced. It was either all drama, all comedy, or all unstable mental hospital patients (Ryan/Taylor).

Even with Ryan's inability to speak with Marissa, he was still much more real with her than when he acquired his fake ass poem writing groundhog stalking personality. I mean, seriously. To palm reading with Sadie to actually standing Taylor's annoying self, I'll take Silent Ryan. Please.

Well, Marissa brought out the most interesting in characters.

Alas, in the case of Ryan, that still didn't seem to be much.

It just reminds me of idea that people would like other couples if they didn't like their own couple. And it's like, no, the other couples still suck.

The thing of it is .

Marissa didnt't have to conform Ryan to be anything. She let him be who he was when he was with her. But it was decided that putting Ryan with other girls that wasnt marissa was postive to Ryan's health or something when really it was the other way around. They brought Bryan atwood out, you know the one who wears that brown awlful Jacket, the one who who was attracted to groundhog stalking, palm reading girls.

Meanwhile Marissa just let him be who was which was a loner who just like she was didnt fit into that world, had a vulnerabity that he often didnt share with anyone but her. But yet it was so evil for him to have someone like that in his life for some reason.

See, that's what I think. People seem to believe that Ryan was his "true self" with Lindsay, Sadie, and Taylor, when in actuality, that wasn't Ryan's character at all. I mean, I guess you can prefer that Ryan (the over the top, no problems, on crack one), but imo, he lost a lot of the qualities that were actually relatable when he was with them.

I have no idea how they can claim Ryan was being "his true self". We were never shown that, we were introduced to him as a lost, poor boy - who brooded a lot. He was the observer, quiet type from the very beginning. Even before he got with Marissa. So how can the over the top happy, and smiling 24/7 be the "true" him? We only saw that when he was with crazy stalkers and other sorts of freaks.

If anything Ryan Atwood was just bi-polar. At least that would make more sense.

Also, the Marissa Cooper Wiki page is pretty funny. People are drawing conclusions from a two second flashback that could have meant anything. Ryan didn't even think about her for a whole second after the whole Taylor thing. I don't know why he would start in the very final episode, lol.

Quote:
Finally, Marissa appears as Ryan's final memory of his life at Newport before leaving the Cohen's house for good in "The End's Not Near, It's Here". While Ryan is driving away, he thinks back to when she was standing on the curb next to her house, watching him and Sandy drive away from Newport back to Chino when Ryan thought he would never return to Newport again (as seen in the "Premiere"). Coming out of the memory and back to reality with a small smile, Ryan continues to drive away from the house. This shows that although Ryan has moved on, Marissa will always have a special place in his heart and he will never forget her or their love and all the memories they shared together.
