I don't think Serena is that bad yet but it looks like she does turn to the bottle when things get hard. We might see that develop a bit more as the series goes on.

Marissa was pretty hardcore with alco, so far we've only seen Serena delve into martinis.

everytime i watch serena onscreen i still picture mischa playing serena, weird......let's hope just would not rush to develop serena into doing bad things

I have a hard time believing that Serena was like a Blair #2 at any point in her life. She's just so awesome, I just can't imagine her that way. Much like Marissa and how she was before Ryan came about.

Also, the whole bitchyness aspect to both characters is so much fun to watch. Serena can be one when she needs to be and so did Marissa. They both rocked at that!

And in the Pilot when Chuck was attacking Serena, that remind anyone else of the Marissa and Trey thing?

the mom of serena is also like julie, the manipulative coniving bitch but is a good mother, plus her sister reminds me of kaitlin when marissa doesn't want kaitlin be send to a bording school same as serena doesn't want his brother go to a rehab facility......

I agree with all points. There have been many scenarios featuring Serena that give me flashbacks to Marissa.

She's like what Marissa should have and would have been had they let her be happy. Not that Serena is happy 24/7 but in general, it just seems that way to me.

And plus Blake rocks. And she reminds me of Mischa. Which makes it all even better.

Blair/Serena remind me of Summer/Marissa in their cute moments but not so much when they are fighting. M/S were never that cruel to each other.

Yeah I agree. That said, Marissa was way lighter in the beginning of the show so who knows of Serena will remain the same way. The good thing about GG is that all the characters have the potential to stumble badly, while Marissa was really the sole centre of drama in The OC.

Yeah when Serena/Blair are happy it reminds of Marissa/Summer. Because both Serena/Blair and Marissa/Summer were each others childhood best friends. And although it changes a bit when you think of their teens, the dynamic is still there.

I think we'll see more into Serena's past as the show goes along. That's when the real Marissa comparisons will begin, IMO.

While we do see Serena happy, for now. We NEVER got to see Marissa as happy in those entire three seasons then in the past four episodes of GG. That's what really makes the difference of the two shows. And characters.
