Recap of recent news....

Black Eyed Peas nab three awards at AMAs - Yahoo! News

Kelly Clarkson takes early lead at AMA By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer

LOS ANGELES - Kelly Clarkson took an early lead at the 2006 American Music Awards on Tuesday, winning both her nominations. Mariah Carey, hip-hoppers the Black Eyed Peas and rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nickelback were the night's leading nominees, with three bids apiece. More than a dozen stars had double chances, including Kanye West, Eminem and Carrie Underwood.

Clarkson, Mary J. Blige and Nickelback started collecting early. Clarkson, nominated for pop/rock female and adult contemporary artist, won in categories presented before the televised show began.

Mike Watt Guests on Kelly Clarkson Record
"Political Song for Kelly Clarkson to Sing"

Former Minuteman, current Stooge, and all-around inspiring guy Mike Watt's most recent recording gig made us smile so much that we just had to share it. (And so did that picture!)

Watt tells us that over the past two weeks, he spent a couple of days in the studio laying down bass tracks for Kelly Clarkson's new album. (That would be the follow-up to 2004's Breakaway--the one with "Since U Been Gone" on it.) He did such a good job of explaining it himself in the emails he sent to Pitchfork that we'll just let him do what he does best and spiel:

"The producer/engineer David Kahne is an old friend, and that's why I was asked aboard, though the guitarist and co-songwriter, Jimmy Messer, knew all about my history and was very enthusiastic; he's a great cat. Actually, it was pretty interesting. I didn't [know] what to expect, but [Kahne] had me trying all kinds of tripping stuff. Altogether, I played on six [songs]. They were already recorded, and I was replacing and adding in bass.

"Everyone there gave me much respect even with me being nervous, big time at first. I knew nothing of Kelly Clarkson before this but can tell you, in my opinion, that she can sing her ass off. Man, she's got pipes and goes for it. She also didn't have any airs or a big posse of sycophants and was just plain up-front people, which to me is very happening 'cause I ain't so used to all the fronting that can go [on] in some scenes.

"It was a challenge too 'cause it was much different than where I've been with music, but different is good, especially when what the people involved wanted was to hear someone working a bass like they meant it, and that's where I've always tried to come from.

"When [Clarkson] had to bail, she said to [Kahne], 'I think the old punk guy idea's a good one,' and we all laughed. It's just studio stuff, and I haven't been asked to be in any band for a gig or tour.

"I got lots going with the Stooges. Iggy called me just a little bit ago and said the album sounds great. Wow, I can't wait to hear it." Neither can we.

Watt is keeping busy with a ton of touring, including three weeks with his Mike Watt and the Missingmen trio supporting Red Hot Chili Peppers in Europe, four shows with the Stooges, and a handful of sets with Dos and Banyan. He's calling it the "Parallel Universes" tour.
And Kelly at the rock Bamboozle Fest? Almost confirmed rumor...

MTV News | My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Surprise 'Idol' To Rock Bamboozle '07

Quote:
My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park And — Kelly Clarkson?
'Idol' may be surprise booking at May 5-6 festival in New Jersey
.

By James Montgomery

In previous years, organizers of the Bamboozle festival have gone out of their way to book acts that seem, well, rather out of place among the sea of girl jeans and guyliner.

Take, for example, the 2006 edition of the fest, when Method Man shared the stage with Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday and a host of other MySpace faves (see "Look Out, Emo Kids: Method Man To Bring The Ruckus To Bamboozle '06"). Or earlier this year, at the inaugural Bamboozle Left, when California MC Murs performed on a bill that included Dashboard Confessional and Cute Is What We Aim For (see "Dashboard, Plus-44 Help Bring Bamboozle Fest To West Coast").

So when it came time to announce the headliners for the 2007 Bamboozle, the brains behind the event were ready with another eyebrow-raiser, one that will certainly have message boards pumping with poorly typed vitriol.

Linkin Park have been confirmed to headline the second day of the 'Boozle, to be held May 5 and 6 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Organizers named fest mainstays My Chemical Romance first-night headliners last month.

The Bamboozle will be Linkin Park's first U.S. gig in more than two years, and fans can expect to hear some of the material the band has been working on with producer Rick Rubin for its much-anticipated third studio album, which is tentatively due next year (see "Mike Shinoda Hosts Art Show, Says Linkin Park LP Gets Rick Rubin Excited").

And while the prospect of live Linkin Park will undoubtedly excite some, what will the Bamboozle's core audience think? Well, according to festival organizers, that's really not important. For Bamboozle to grow, they argue, it needs to diversify.

"When we started the Bamboozle, we decided that we can't be molded," organizer John D'Esposito told MTV News. "The festival has to diversify and embrace different scenes to make it better. We'd like to think of the Bamboozle as more than a festival. It's a community. To be honest, I never thought we would get Linkin Park. And we're not going to stop there. We're not afraid to press the 'pop' button. If we cross into pop, we'll go there. Because if we don't, it takes away from the overall experience of the festival."

And speaking of that "pop button," D'Esposito said that there's still one rather unexpected surprise guest scheduled to appear at the 2007 Bamboozle. And while he won't reveal exactly who that mystery performer is, he did drop some serious hints.

"Every year, my son, Linc, gets to pick a special guest. Last year, he picked Method Man, and people went crazy. And his pick this year is going to have everyone doing a double take," D'Esposito said. "He's got an idea, and she's confirmed to be at the Bamboozle ... I can't say who, but I will say she's very popular, and that she's an 'Idol.' "

There have been three female "American Idol" champs — Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino and Carrie Underwood — but only Clarkson has been cementing her burgeoning punk cred by working with former Minutemen bassist Mike Watt. So does that mean fans can look forward to seeing the Breakaway star rock the stage at next year's fest?

"Oh man," D'Esposito laughed. "Um, no comment!"

D'Esposito was a bit more forthcoming with other details about the 2007 Bamboozle, including the total number of bands fans can expect to see ("120 over two days") and the number of stages that'll be packed into the Meadowlands Complex (six). Attendees can also look forward to a bunch of glorious ephemera, including a Ferris wheel and an on-site recording studio. Tickets will run $35 for a single day or $65 for a two-day pass, he said.

A special pre-sale for the two-day passes will begin Friday at 12 p.m. ET though the festival's site, TheBamboozle.com

I'd say they were two great awards! I'm so happy she took home both of them! It's too bad she wasn't there though... I love seeing her dresses and hair, etc.

I tried to get my family to watch the Dallas game, but they refused. They wanted to watch the Detroit/Miami game instead. So, I guess I'll just have to wait for the DL.

Kelly was at another taping of Reba. Thanks to Mel on KCE.

Quote:
OK, so my friend Katie went to the reba finale on Tue night, and guess who was there? Kelly! She let me post her story, so i'm going to for her.

*Spoilers below*

So Katie first sees 3 girls walk in and later recognizes that one is Kelly in pigtails.

first they showed a playback episode

Kelly was cracking up when Joanna Garcia had to sing in the episode.

At the end of the episode, Reba and Melissa Peterman were singing 9-5, and Kelly was shaking back and forth to the beat and lipsyncing.

then the live taping starts, and after the break from the 1st scene these 3 girls yell rebaaaaaaaa and its kel and her friends. Reba laughed and waved.

they were in the 2nd row

so later on the comedian warm up guy mark. he brings up people to sing if they are from out of the country.so this guy tells them he is from canada so he goes up to sing but he only has been in Canada for 4 months and he's originally from Texas. So kelly screams out texassssssss and does the rock on sign. so the guy was saying he only knows a little of the canadian anthem or he can sing all my exes live in texas.so the guy was saying he only knows a little of the canadian anthem. She screams out texas again and he starts to sing the texas song but he only knows the first line. Kelly was singing along under her breath and then when the guy stops kelly continues and turns to her friend and continued singing.

she was eating an apple and at the end wrapped it up and put it in her bag.

She got a text during the show and she said to her friend, "omg, i just won 2 ama's" (she was shocked).

so the show goes on and reba bloopers and kelly freaking cracks up. cheyenne has this yelling funny ass scene where she kicks the couch and kel was crackin up.

After the show, she signed for Katie and a few others @ the After-Party.

She was wearing these overalls that started at her stomach, and a bam bam t-shirt and a hat and pigtails (which were 2 different lengths b/c of her asymetric hair ) .
