Jessica, Kelly's friend, said on the fan club board that Kelly and her group of friends were supposed to go skydiving last week. They all went, but Kelly chickened out...so she didn't do it. But the others did. lol

Clarkson won four Teen Choice Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards earlier this year.

Kelly Clarkson, the first winner of "American Idol" and by far the series' most successful star, will bring her girl-next-door charm and expanding arsenal of hits to the American Bank Center arena Dec. 8.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at the venue's box office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at paceconcerts.com and by phone at 881-8499. Cost: $32.50 or $42.50.

The 23-year-old Fort Worth native earned millions of fans when she demonstrated her vocal range on the first "Idol," defeating Justin Guarini. Clarkson's first single, "A Moment Like This," made the largest leap to No. 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, from No. 52.

She followed up the ballad with the attitude-heavy, R&B-influenced "Miss Independent," off her first album, "Thankful." The song reached the Top 10. Subsequent releases from "Thankful" - "Low" and "The Trouble With Love Is" - failed to make much impact on radio, but the videos were popular on MTV.

In 2003, Clarkson and Guarini starred in the widely panned "From Justin to Kelly," which grossed just $4.9 million domestically. It holds the record for fastest transition from theaters to DVD - 29 days.

Clarkson's sound took a decidedly more rock turn with the release of the CD "Breakaway" in November 2004, and the results have been fruitful. The radio-friendly title track hit No. 6. The next singles, "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes," bowed at Nos. 2 and 6, respectively, and both still are in the Top 40. Her latest, "Because of You," this week shot from No. 21 to No. 14.

The album "Breakaway" has sold 3 million copies, peaked at No. 3 and sits at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 album chart. In August, Clarkson won four Teen Choice Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Clarkson was one of 10,000 wannabe stars who auditioned for the first "American Idol" installment. The series has been a ratings blessing for Fox and helped launch the careers of Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood ... and William Hung.
