No they're not writing any upcoming song together, but they did write Breakaway together. Or Avril wrote most of it and Kelly sings it.

Quite a few people asked if it would be possible to have a thread dedicated to them, so I just went for it. Some people want a thread cause they love them both, while others wanted a thread to discuss them both, so I made it a discussion thread as opposed to an appreciation thread. I want everyone to feel welcomed

There's still so much debate going on over some of the things Avril has said about Kelly all over the internet, we're bound to have something to talk about. All I ask is that we're all respectful of each other's opinions. A lot of people here are big Avril fans.

i saw Kelly last month, i'm seeing Avril June 1st, i dont know if i'm a fan of her or not but i do play her a lot. I just think the fundamental difference between the two is that i dont really get a sense of warmth from Avril, Kelly just lights up and u cant help but love her, you just feel like you know her instantly. I dont really get the same connection with Avril, but i am rather excited to see her in a few months She does write great songs!!

I agree with that. But then again Kelly's so personable, sometimes it's hard for other artists to match her level of friendliness.

There's no doubt that Kelly is more welcoming than Avril, but Avril does have charisma.

Both are alluring qualities in a personality.

omgosh i didnt know Avril wrote some of the songs on Breakaway, i had no idea they collaborated together on that! Wow! that explains some of the songs on there actually, lololl, now that i think about it.

they should do a duet maybe.

At times in her career she has said some very great things about Kelly, and at other times she's said some not-so-favorable things. But all in all, I think Avril respects Kelly. At least now.

Oh and just to clarify, Avril wrote "Breakaway" the song. But it's the only song on the album that Avril worked on.

If I remember correctly "Breakaway" was supposed to be on one of Avril's albums but she changed her mind. Later on they offered it to Kelly to sing on the Princess Diaries 2 Soundtrack...and when that song became a huge hit they also included it on "Breakaway" the album.

oh alright so thats how the Avril and Kelly collaboration came to be

i read up and it says that Avril said mean things about her in the past but i think that was when Avril was younger because ever since she married Derek, shes been so different, shes much more grown up now and her views have changed

You are right, Kelly is just uber adorable, its very difficult to match that, and i am very glad she sang Breakaway in the end. The other woman in my life ( sadly not literally!) also recorded an Avril song, Leonas 'I Will Be' so i do have a lot of respect for the woman!!!:p
