she was amazing! i got chills while watching her! ryan seacrest is such an awkward interviewer though. i felt sorry for him. but kelly's performance was off its hinges!!!

Aww I don't really enjoy the show anymore, but that really was a fun season. Something new and original (then) and Kelly!

I love how genuine it was that first season. The contestants were there to sing. Not to look pretty, or get their 15 minutes of fame, or score some career points. They were just there to perform cause that's what they wanted to do.

And Kelly has even mentioned that, well not in that way, but how season 1 was completely different than all the rest becuase they had no clue what it would turn in to. They were truly there just to sing, not for fame.

And it also wasn't trying to be as flashy as they are trying to be today. the skits were cheesy but simple. there were no big stars on the show, or no guest judge...nothing like that. Just the contestants and their talent (or lack thereof)

Speaking to Celebs On Sunday magazine, Clarkson explained: "You know, it's been written that I'm trying to distance myself from Idol, but I'm so proud I was on that show. It got me a great record deal and has given me a career I love.

"Every now and then it hits me and I go: 'Man, I'm so lucky'. Like [my] mum says, there are a lot of people who can sing - I just happen to be one of the ones who gets to do it for a living."

Clarkson released her fourth studio album All I Ever Wanted last month.

It's unfortunate that the media has been under the impression that Kelly was ungrateful to Idol because in reality she is the Idol who has come back to the show the most often, and she has always talked about the show fondly.

It all started when a rep of hers decided to mention that AI couldn't use her songs.. Then Kelly found out and she was like Wha?!? I remember her alluding to it again in a more recent interview, when the interviewer was talking about how Justin T. wouldn't let anyone else in the studio and she completely defended him.

That would be really frustrating. To have someone that is supposed to speak for you apparently not have a clue what they are talking about.

Good thing she has the right people around her now.

I think this whole thing started with The Firm. It was someone there who had said no to AI at first and then Kelly rectified that by saying yes. I think The Firm kinda wanted her to seperate herself from Idol a bit, but Kelly herself probably didn't really have a problem with being associated with Idol.
