I love Ellen so I'm excited about this. I think Ellen will add something to the show that Paula maybe didn't.

I have a hard time picturing Ellen doing anything other than cracking jokes!

I'd say out of the 4 judges, Paula's the one who's opinion I respect the least but she still was a big part of the show.

Same here.

I think that generally speaking Ellen has much more of an opinion to share than Paula did. Paula seemed to be very politically correct all the time, praising people who maybe didn't deserved praising.

I get the feeling Ellen will be a bit more blunt...in a very funny way of course.

i was having this debate with some friends the other day. what do you guys think? should people on ai right now be singing kelly songs? can anyone really do them justice other than kelly?

They can sing them if they want, but they should be aware that their chances of making it sound anywhere near as good as Kelly is 99.9%.

Personally, I dislike when anyone sings a Kelly song, or a song Kelly sang on Idol. No one can ever do it justice. Just my opinion though.

I agree with you. Whenever anyone even sings Natural Woman or Respect on AI, I always compare it to when Kelly sang it and I think a lot of other people do too.
Most people can't do justice to one of her songs. They would have to really change it up so it didn't sound like they were trying to copy her, but that could end up backfiring on them.. So, I think it would be a risk.

I agree.

I find that when someone chooses to sing a song that she sang on Idol, or one of her songs it kind of cripples them a bit. Their chances of blowing people away get reduced exponentially I find.

you mean they have 99.9% chances of sounding as good as kelly's or you mean that there's pretty much no chance they can sound as good as her? i wasn't sure how to read that.
