Why do YOU Love Veronica Mars?

I think we can all agree that VM is one of the smartest and best new TV shows on the air. With so much reality crap, it’s good to know that really good written shows are still being made.

I love Veronica Mars because of not only the way it blends so many genres together, but the fact that it does it extremely well. Everything they do is done well. The Lilly mystery could have been done badly. They even dealt with rape, and they didn’t shy around it or make it over the top.

Kristen Bell is another reason why I love Veronica Mars. She is amazingly perfect. I could go on forever, but I’m not going to. Not in one post at least.

Why do you love Veronica Mars?

I love Veronica Mars because it's refreshing. A great show with some very fresh characters. Everyone of them is smart and in depth with rich emotion. Never have a watched a show with one key mystery throughout it that I have not been able to solve. The writing seems to be top notch and give something that every fan can respect.

I love Veronica Mars because of how smart and quick the main character is. I think it is easy for a lot of people to relate to Veronica. She is on the outs in highschool, which is probably how most people felt or feel in highschool. Despite being in highschool, she is very wise and grown-up. I think she realizes how insignificant typical teen problems are and that really keeps her out of all of that drama. Of course, there is the drama surrounding her, but that can't be helped. Plus, I like that despite her own problems, she helps others.

Yeah, that's my #1 reason why I love it.

Then,it's because of the writing and the depth of the characters.

I posted some of my reasons on the 100 Reasons Why I Like Veronica Mars Thread, but the main one is this:

Veronica Mars tackles the very universal theme of "you are not alone" in the most subtle of ways that I almost missed it.

"You are not alone" is basically what is means.

In fiction, as in real life, people often feel they are the only ones who life can be cruel to. They look at others as having "charmed" lives and as a consequence, they retreat into an introverted shell as a way to deal with and to prevent further emotional pain and suffering.

Veronica Mars uses this theme effectively since she is an outcast and social pariah and as she gets closer and closer to finding out who killed Lily... She is slowly realizing that things aren't as "black and white" as they used to seem and that there are others who are hurting (emotionally) just as much as she is and by reconnecting with them... Not matter if they are an 0-9ner or fellow outcasts like Mac... She is realizing that she isn't alone and that there is strength in that.

The reason I almost missed this is because it is one of the most universal themes any fictional story can use and as such, it is a common theme (even if un-intentional) to the point of being over used, but I sincerely beleive the writers intended this to be a major factor in Veronica as a character and as a protagonist since her whole journey is about reconnecting with those around her in one way or another.

For example, look at the developments between her and Logan. He is hurting just as much as she is/was now that it appears his mother is really dead... But the fact Veronica finally understands why he is hurting so much and why he hates her (blames her for Lily's death) is part of that reconnection process because without it, neither of them would be growing as characters and the main factor is that Veronica is learning that there is strength among friends in times of crisis. This is her major arc aside from finding Lily's killer. Thos is her internal goal vs. her external goal and it is being handled brilliantly because the writers don't have Veronica coming out and saying it. This show uses subtext the "correct" way and it assumes the audience will pick up on it and that is why I personally like the show more than anything on the air right now.
