I personally don't think you have to delete your first post since it doesn't clearly link to another board from what I can see. And it provides us with a lot of info on the campaign.

Thanks for coming over and telling us about it!

All you really have to do is leave the link out. (I see that was taken care of already.) I think that it's fine to mention that some info is on the TWOP site/board. As long as you don't have a link to it or talk about it "all" the time, it's not considered advertising. Then again, you should ask Kelly_mvpics. She's part of the management team here and also the temp. moderator of this board.

Yes. Please. Be my guest

The reason I am so adiment about doing it this way is because putting "VM is Smarter than Me" is redundant. Yeah. It's a nice little nod to the producers... But they don't need to be told something they already know. They need to know that the fans appreciate the hard work they do that make the show what it is (that we all enjoy); once again, appealing to their vanity.

I've tried to register for TVWoP forums, but I just can't seem to do it for some uknown reason (technical problems).

I e-mailed the admin because I want to post on Rob Thomas' thread about some of the stuff we've been discussing here about who VM's real target audience may be, OTH, the campaign to get season II, etc.

Yes, that's right- perfectly said Michael

I also want to add that it's against the rules to randomly post on other boards here for the main purpose of stating to help save the VM show (that would be spamming). It's alright only if the thread you are in pertains to VM. But, what you can do is add it to your sig (like I've added to save the American Dreams show with a link in my sig below). That way people will read your sig when you post on other boards at FF. You can also make avatars to use that say help save VM. You can ask for help at the webmasters board in the avatar help thread for people to make you avatars.
Good luck!

The TWoP boards have been really slow and buggy recently.

I apologize if my posts sounds like I'm trying to advertise TWoP. I just thought you guys might want to know about this stuff.

All right guys? Wanna help get a season two? Here's a great way to start!

I guess some people at TWOP devised this... here's what to do:

Quote:
Inspired by Veronica's clever ploy of writing "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" on the bills in Clash of the Tritons, a few fans at Televisions Without Pity thought it would be fun to design a Veronica Mars themed two dollar bill to ask for a second season. So far there are two bill designs, here and here. Just write "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" on the bills and send them to UPN. You might also include your gender, general age range, and location to show UPN that Veronica Mars has a very diverse fan base. You can read more about this campaign at the TWoP board. Here's the addresses for the top UPN executives and the UPN affiliates.

The reason we are starting this "renew our show" campaign now, instead of waiting until after the show is canceled to start a "save our show/move Veronica Mars to another network" campaign is because it is so much easier to persuade someone to do something that they want to do, than it is to convince someone to reverse a decision that they have already made. Dawn Ostroff (UPN's president) has been very supportive of the show so I think it's safe to say she would love to renew the show.

For those of you who don't keep up with the ratings, Veronica Mars has finished dead last in it's timeslot almost every single week since it premiered. If it wasn't for the huge amount of critical acclaim, the show would have been canceled months ago. While Dawn Ostroff has shown tremendous patience, faith, and support for the show, there has been no word yet on whether or not this ratings challenged show will be picked up for a second season. If you want the show to return next season, follow Kristen Bell's advice: "Our audience is climbing, people are telling their friends, so, please, guys, keep telling your friends!"

Edited to add: A publicist who works for Warner Brothers (the studio that produces VM) recently contacted me and she said she loves this fake money campaign. She said we should send the bills to Dawn Ostroff (head of UPN) and Leslie Moonves (head of CBS and Ms. Ostroff's boss). If you already sent a set of bills to Ms. Ostroff, please send another set to Mr. Moonves
Make sure to write "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" on the bill.

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is a Save VM site created now.

It's right here: http://www.saveveronicamars.com/

I just signed the petition. I didn't realize that the show still had low ratings. I thought that with all these critics saying it's a good show that it would have been doing better. I'm a little worried now.

1) Online Petitions have ZERO to NO effect because names on an anonymous petition can be forged (this is industry execs attitude towards them).

2) SNAIL-MAIL is the best way to improve fans chances of the producers and UPN hearing their plea. Mail both UPN and the local affiliates.

Snail-Mail can't be deleted, or filtered out like e-mails can.

3) DO NOT SEND MARS BARS. They are candy and candy melts. You want the producers to know you like the show. Not irritate them by making a mess of their mailrooms (remember, kids and interns actually have to go through the mail and the quickest way to get the interns to throw out each mail bin without even reading a single letter is if everything is sticky and gooey from melted candy bars).

Every little bit counts. I remember in the articles written about the Roswell SOS campaigns, the huge petitions were always mentioned. I'm not saying, to sign and be done with your part, just that signing takes 30 seconds and actually *can* make a difference...especially in addition to other tactics.

If you are going to sign any petition... It should be one that can be printed out and mailed just like snail-mail letters and postcards. This proves to TPB that there is a market (fanbase) and holds more validity with them because it is in a tangible (printed) form than merely on a screen on the net somewhere. It's psychological more than anything.

Another good idea is a Variety full-page spread (ad) paid for by fans -- could even include part of the printed petition -- Like Roswell did during its Campaign.

The main thing all of these efforts must have in common is that they must prove to TPB that not only does the fanbase exist, but that they are willing to spend their own money (on things like ads, snail-mail postage) because...

TPB equate fans spending money on things like ads and postage to disposable income they can spend on the products they will advertise during commercial airtime during the show. This is something I think a lot of the "Save VM" campaigns need to start focusing on. We (fans) have to start appealing to UPN's business sensibilities and prove to them if they renew the show they will get a return on their investment because that takes merit over any critical or artistic acclaim the show will ever receive.

If you are truly serious about this...

Would you be willing to pay $80 (or part of it) for a domain name ("VeronicaMarsUnited" or something) and get together with other posters on this board who know how to do HTML and put up a News/Campaign only website?

They registered "saveveronicamars.com" but it is just a petition page right now. I don't know if they intend to go any further, but I think a fully fleshed out (with good layout and graphics) website is something this cause is going to need that can be referenced in publicity events by both fans and those within Warner Brothers and UPN who support VM to give more credibility and credence -- and to centralize campaign efforts in one place -- To the campaign as a whole.

Just my two cents...
