Ahhhh such a good and sad title at the same time...

I agree with what Caro says above. It's a bit too bad we didn't get to see more of these moments! It would have been very interesting to develop that side more!

I always waited after that episode for more moments like that, but they never came.

I agree.

I never really thought of him as an idiot, I think he was just...lazy and arrogant, maybe? He usually lacked the motivation to dig in deeper (like Keith and Veronica do), and was always so sure that he knew best and refused to listen to what others had to say. Still, that doesn't make him an idiot. After all, he did manage to beat Keith in the sheriff election, so that's gotta count for something...(btw, the first time he was sheriff after Keith - was there an election, or was he immediately appointed as sheriff, like Keith was this episode...?)

Yes, I totally agree, on all counts.

My guess is that he was appointed. They needed a sheriff immediately.

As far as I know he was just appointed. At least there was never an election mentioned afterwards until Season 2. (to my knowledge)

I agree with the Caro's, it's sad that RT never went back to establish a little more of Lamb's motivation and behavior outside his antagonism towards the Mars Family. In Season 2 there were a few glimpses like the Manning case and him blackmailing Terrence for nothing but profit. All those nuances were taken out in Season 3, just establishing him as dumb and incompetent.
In S2 it was mentioned that Crime rate dropped since he was in office, and all the 51% that voted for him couldn't have been 09er that hoped for him to lean their way ... so he must have done some things right.

I'm assuming he was elected. VMVO from the Pilot: "My dad's belief that Jake Kane was the murderer became a moot point. An emergency recall election removed him from office."

Sam--I think the recall just removed Keith from power, with the possibility of electing someone else at the same time (that's how it went with the Gubernatorial recall in 2002.)

Morly--great to see you here.

Anyone interested in more about Lamb's issues might want to check out the recent podcast with the writers from 314 (moderated by a person at TWoP with additional questions by some other TWoP members.) Klembom mention some stuff about Lamb's backstory.

I still haven't listened to the latest podcast I'll have to do that sometime today.

But yeah, what I really hated was seeing the potential set up after the Manning case and then nothing, grrr. It was one of the more intiguing aspects they laid out that year imo. I'll never forget seeing Lamb mention that his father made that same speech and the shock that he would actually let Veronica and Duncan go. It said so much and then they dropped the ball on that one.

Thanks for the heads up Roz, will probably listen to the podcast later on. Interested to hear what they have to say.

So he wasn't just a temporary replacement until elections were held?
The reason I'm asking is because there's been a bit of talk as to whether Keith being the new sheriff is just until they can find a more permanent replacement (until actual elections are held), or he's here to stay. So I was wondering how it all went down last time there was a need for a new sheriff...

Thanks Roz, glad to be here.
I've only recently heard of this place (yes, I've been living under a rock apparently... ), and have been kinda lurking since, but decided I might as well de-lurk myself already. Better late than never though, right?

Which reminds me - can I be added to the list? The more the merrier.

palegreen got it right with the quote from the pilot. I honestly don't know more.

Adding you right now. Welcome!

Hmm, ok then, guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with Keith. (I personally prefer him as a P.I. than as sheriff).

Cool, thanks for adding me.

Now what's this I hear about March 1st? I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, something to do with voting for a Michael board...? Just tell me when and where, and I'm there.

FF have a monthly poll to add actors, shows and music boards to the forum.

and Michael will be in the march list, available to be voted for his own board.

I'm thinking about making something special for the occasion.....we'll see

Okay ... Johnnie reopened the Campaign Thread for the Michael Muhney Board. So I'd say ... It's Campaign Time!

Come to the Campaign Thread, to let us see where we stand

Voting will start Thursday, March 1st!

Feel free to spread the word, but please stick to the FF rules.
Do not spam other Boards or via PM. Otherwise we'll get kicked, and I'd be sad

Laura gave me permission to make a ROL post, so I will do that on Thursday. Maybe afrocurl can spread the word on the VM board and JulieB on the JFD Board. Other than that ... change you sig Tell everybody what a great guy Michael is and get the word out
Maybe Sammy can contribute some of her awesome icons!

I'll post the actual voting link, as soon as it's available.
