As we all know, there's a chance that Veronica could be the daughter of Jake Kane, making her not only heir to millions but her relationship with Duncan incest, and Keith not her father.

How do you guys think this storyline will play out?

Who is her father?

I didn’t know if they were going to do an Alias thing for a while (Sydney found out Sloane could be her dad, found out he wasn’t, and Jack said after no matter who the father was she’d always be a daughter to him.) But I think it would be very daring and cool if they made Jake Veronica’s dad.

Unfortunately, that would mess Veronica up more than she already is.

Yeah, I have a feeling it will be Keith, but like I said, to have it be Jake- very daring.

I'd guess that it would be Keith, but it would be pretty cool if they made it Jake. That would be both daring and shocking, the perfect match.

But do you think they could do that? I mean, with all the ramifications it would cause, it would send a shockwave through the series. For Veronica, Keith, Duncan, Jake, Celeste, Lianne... I mean, it could change the show. It would leave permanent damage.

Which is why I don't know if they'd do that.

The whole thing could easily be a red heron, something set by the writers as a distraction from something else.

How daring and shocking would it really be though if everyone is expecting it?

It would definitely throw a monkey wrench into everything, including Veronica's already fractured psyche, but would it be a little too sensational given the stuff VM has already gone through?

If they tied this in directly with Lily's murder, aka that was why she was murdered; to keep the secret, then I would be all for it.

I just don't want them to use this as an on-going subplot and draw it out to the point of it really doesn't matter in the long run since Kieth is everything a father should be and is to Veronica. That's the danger if we get a season 2 and maybe even season 3 in my humble opinion.

But why would someone want Lilly dead for it? To not have to give Veronica any cash? Because of the shame of having an illegitamate child? And I got the impression that (if Jake is indeed her father) Lilly and Duncan both knew. Because that would explain Duncan suddenly breaking it off with Veronica, and Lilly telling her not to worry. So why is Duncan still alive?

And about your worry, I'm pretty sure that we'll find out by the end of season one, in case there is no season two.

"I've got a secret, Veronica Mars." Maybe that's what Lilly was referencing. I see this as a possibility, but only that. It would be unrealistic for her to dangle something so significant with such a lighthearted tone.

I think that She belongs to Keith 100% there is a reason the writers are making us think that there is a chance she is Jake's. That even gives Duncan a reason to break up with Veronica but I really don't things will play out that way.

I have a feeling that Mrs Kane hates Veronica so much because of her mom that she could have planted the whole idea to get Duncan to leave her alone and make Lilly feal strange around her best friend.

It's just my personal theory that Celeste Kane played a big part in running Lianne Mars out of town.

Bingo. Pride and money are two very big motivating factors for murder in real life AND in literature (storytelling).

Also... Duncan is alive, but he's been medicated heavily for some time, so he might as well be dead in that respect if he can't remember what happened and is subject to "blackouts" -- Whether these are legitimate blackouts or have been planted in his head has yet to be seen.

It's an air-tight scenario.

I don't see Veronica as Jake's daughter at all.

I don't think that UPN would go for that. They're being daring right now just by having the show on their network. They're branching out and trying new things. I don't think that these new things are of the "Lost" variety where you've got siblings, step half or otherwise, making out with each other.

I don't think that Celeste hates Veronica so much because she's actually Jake's daughter. I think that she hates Veronica so much because she's Lianne's daughter. Jake obviously isn't over Lianne, but something for whatever reason, drove them apart in or after high school. Possibly a social-climbing Celeste? Possibly Keith? Possibly a pregnancy that had ended in miscarriage? Celeste may know that she's second best compared to Lianne, because women know these things for the most part, and hates Lianne as a mortal enemy. Thus hating Veronica too and wanting her to have nothing to do with Duncan.

But yes, I don't see UPN or the writers for that matter, going in that direction. Planting the seed of doubt, maybe. But the actual, "This is your brother and you've been making out with him and lusting after him!" ordeal, no. Also, Duncan still has feelings for Veronica. If he knew that she was actually his half sister, he wouldn't be trying to get her attention and stop her from kissing Troy.
