Ok, rant time. I hate it when a simple conversation about a simple promo has to turn into backlash against Logan and the L/V supporters. I also resent the use of "teenyboppers" in these types of convos because it's an insult to the teenagers that do watch and to some of us that are *way* past that and don't like to be generalized that way.

Why does anything popular result in so much backlash? >sigh< I guess it goes with the territory.

I'm ending my rant and moving on.....

Backlash? There was a backlash about the promo? Huh? I must have missed something. What are people saying that's so horrible?

Okay, I have a couple of LoVe Fic recommendations that are here at this site ---> Veronica Mars Investigates . All of the fanfics there are great, but I'd especially recommend reading "School Daze" and SKK's Extended Episode Scripts (it takes place after 'M.A.D.' and gradually spoils 'A Trip To The Dentist'; it is in script format, but if you enjoy theohara's season 2 script fanfic, you will really enjoy this one too!)

It's nothing really. I understand not liking a promo but to just turn the convo into some sort of backlash against Logan and L/V is what I don't get. Oh well, like I said, huge popularity like JD/Logan has along with the L/V relationship is bound to bring this kind of backlash. I just don't like that it implies just because we love L/V we don't enjoy all of the other aspects the show brings as well. I love the whole package.

But this almost always happens. So I'm just going to do the smart thing and ignore it from here on out.

I think all of us have probaby said at one point or another that, while we love L/V, we watch the show for the show, not for the relationship. But I guess some people can't see that. (Of course, it could be that they're projecting. But I'm not saying they are or anything.)

Where was all this backlash? I haven't seen any. I adore the promo and the fact that there is some nice focus on L/V! My only prob with the promo is that it's a bit spoilery. My dad is a newbie VM watcher and we watch the show on UPN. I don't want him to be spoiled for the Logan and Veronica relationship. He so far has no clue and I want it to stay that way so he can be shocked when they kiss!

I actually haven't even watched the promo, so I can't comment on it, but if it includes that pic of KB where she doesn't look at all like Veronica, then I probably won't like it very much.

I'm probably overreacting. But last season I don't even feel like L/V were the biggest focus on the show. And towards the end when it was relationship tied into *everything* most importantly the murder. It wasn't there to serve to make the show "soapy". Although it perfectly killed two stones imo. Tied into the plot while giving us this wonderful, crazy relationship to enjoy. How that's a bad thing is beyond me.

ETA, I'm just talking about some comments I've seen here on this board(news thread) and another place.

Also, this was before the promo, but I was on the imdb boards and people were saying that Logan was "blech" to which I responded, "How can Logan and blech even be put in the same sentence?" One person said he was overrated as well. I just ignore these few because I know how I feel and that's all that matters.

ETA - Okay, I just read the news thread. So, now we're teenyboppers, eh? Although I am 19, my mom who is 57 adores Logan and Veronica as well. She would definitely not be considered a teenybopper. Also, I never felt like their relationship took over the show. It was only a small part of it. I hate the name-calling because it's just so insulting and unnecessary.

I know, I hate it when people (not naming any names) assume that just because you are invested in a ship means you don't care about the other aspects of the show and are shallow. It really is annoying, but I know why I watch, and that is good enough for me. I started watching because of the writing and the great storylines. The fact that L/V got together was an added bonus.

I thought the same thing after I read a few of those posts. I was really irritated about the whole "teenybopper" comment. I decided not to post until I had sufficiently calmed down. L/V barely even had a relationship, so how could it have been the focus of the show? If anything I think we shippers are more nuts over the anticipation of a relationship more than what has been shown. Like you said, the angst in the "relationship" was directly involved with the 2 major story arcs (the rape and murder). I don't remember any obligatory angst, other than the reveal to Duncan and subsequent meltdown.

What really bothers me is the so called "fans" who immediately feel the need to announce that they'll stop watching if things don't go exactly like they want. I'm no fan of Veronica and Duncan, but if RT sees fit to put them together, so be it. I'm not going to "take my ball and go home" because I didn't get my way. I'm going to trust in the vision of the man who created this incredible show and let him blindly lead me wherever he wishes to take me. And I will do so gladly, because I am simply... a fan.

I think there are people like that all over in VM. People are saying that if so and so isn't at the door they won't watch VM anymore and it's like... why are you watching the show then? Just stop watching so you will never ever be disappointed when Dick isn't at the door!
