Today we said goodbye to louis. He loved exploring, food, napping in the sunshine and his family. He was the very definition of a good boy and believe it or not that little guy was one of the bravest dogs I’ve ever met. He wouldn’t back down from anything. After tara got pregnant and the boys were born he really stepped up his game. No one was allowed near her or them that he didn’t like. He liked most people but every once in a while someone or someone’s dog didn’t pass the test. I will never forget the day louis punked a 100+pound pit bull that he decided got to close (the pit bull wasn’t doing anything wrong louis just wasn’t having it). The dogs body building owner couldn’t believe that his giant dog was cowering on its back in front of this tiny almost cross eyed weiner dog. I believe his exact words were “what the f$&k?” But that was louis... Small dog big spirit. He also knew when someone needed help. As some of you know and some of you may not I had a serious drinking problem back in the day and kicking the habit was not only hard but painful. I found myself sleeping a lot. Louis was the perfect companion for that. He barely left my side for most of the time I was shaking things out. He would sleep when I slept and would wake me up just often enough to make sure I was still alive and moving. He was a much needed piece of comfort in a very dark time. Everywhere we took louis people loved him. He was truly unique, a sweet boy, one of a kind and we will miss him terribly. That’s the cruel joke of owning a dog... you love them so much and they give you so much without asking for anything in return but they don’t stick around forever. They are a bright light in the darkness. So thank you for everything louis... our good boy... our protector... our cuddle buddy. See you at the rainbow bridge.
