I don't think he was justified, either. If the movie wanted him to have a point, he does in making us aware of every day "sins" or whatever, but it never justifies killing anybody.

And yes, John Doe's greatest ability was to recognize himself as a sinner and thus he needed himself dead, also to complete the seven deadly sins. But he needed Mill, a victim to do it. And what a way to motivate him! The most dangerous aspect of John Doe was that he was brilliant. That's always a scary characteristic on a murderer!

I agree that the movie did a good job of making clear why John Doe did what he did - killing people who sinned while at the same time he sinned himself. Such a complex, good movie. One of my favorites of Brad.

I need to go and buy it...

If you do buy it get the Platinum Edition. The transfer is *perfect*, it includes commentary by Brad, Fincher and Morgan. It's full of extras, etc. It's a wonderful DVD.

I'd rather have the Plantium edition so I'll take you up on that. The more extras, the better.

I loved this movie, it was simply too great, it had a great cast and the plot was complicated enough for it to be great!!

Hello Katie, I'm Karamela, ..Nice to meet you!
Thanks and your icon is cute too

I just read the whole thread, and I kinda think John Doe was kinda justified in killing the people he did, I dont think it was right and it was pure evilness but what he did, the people he killed were all killed because in his opinion and many others he killed the people who had sinned the most, and what he did was a sin so at the end he also ended his life...also [id I remember correctly] he didnt kill anyone, like gun head kill..he simply pushed them to tehir limits, made the sin worser!!

I think the end of movie was the best thing about it, if he hadn't died then it would have been a good movie, but the ending just made it that much better!!

Hi Karamela!

I agree about the ending. So fantastic and Brad did a great job with the work given to him in that last scene. So frickin-fantastic.

This was an awesome movie. So dark and gross but still really well done. I liked how even during the day the city was very dark and depressing. And it rained like 80% of the movie. That scene with the guy at the sex club? I shudder just thinking about it.

Are you talking about the crazy, sinning dude? If so, that's Kevin Spacey. But if you're talking about Mills's partner, then yeah it's Morgan Freeman.

Maybe I'm just sick or something, but I would've preferred to see Tracy's head in the box. Haha yeah I think I'm just sick.
