Update on Measha: I sent this e-mail out to some yesterday:

I spoke with Bill yesterday -- he's a delightful man to converse with. Measha is in Europe and has a crazy schedule -- she should be retuning soon. He said he would send her an e-mail last night tonite to remind her about the Scott Patterson project. He's received all my e-mails -- I sent him the list of songs and stated that we changed our minds and wanted Measha's song to be the first song, but a surprise for the project. Bill loves the project -- he didn't sound annoyed; understood that I was just checking on status of things. I think it was a good idea that I gave him his space to deal with Measha. And I told him that our target time for sending out the package was the end of this month. He's working on it. Whew. Now I'll leave him alone for another 14 days -- unless I hear from him beforehand. I still thinks it's a go -- power of positive thinking. It's up to Measha -- Bill reserves the right to say that Measha doesn't feel comfortable in doing so, however, he thought she liked the idea as much as he -- it was a matter of scheduling time.

So, let's keep those fingers crossed.

Well everyone – I can now say that the Project is 99% complete. Here were my finishing touches:

1. I purchased a stencil board to mark the discs 1,2,3,4,5 and it works perfectly – black Sharpie pen for discs 1-4; Gold Pilot pen (looks like liquid gold) for disc 5 because it’s a black disc.

2. I think I wore out my Bose CD changer because I’ve tested over half the discs so far and they play to perfection on multiple other players – maybe my Bose just needs a tune-up.

3. The package will consist of: (1) The 5-CD set bound together with twisted cord of NYY Blue (blech – sorry Karen – can’t help it) and Gold strands – very elegant looking. I searched 2 fabric stores – velvet ribbon only sold in the holiday months and I was a tad early for it; (2) Leather Portfolio with 65 pages of reading for Scott. All I can say is “my cup runneth over” Thank you very much for participating and sending your well-wishes to “our guy”; and last, but not least, (3) Ela’s beautiful collage – Ela, your note was sooooo beautiful and had writings and ornaments all around the margins that there wasn’t any excess to shave so that it could fit in the portfolio. I have carefully and neatly inserted your collage with your note in the envelope that you sent to me and am placing it inside the box, “as is.” I think Scott would like to know that your work of art came from Germany, replete with a Luke’s Diner sticker on it!!!

4. I have a few more pages of messages to print tomorrow and insert in the portfolio and then the project will be complete. I will bring my digital camera to work with me on Wednesday, but I might need an extra day to double and triple check that every message sent to me has been inserted (I’m better than Mrs. Santa Claus – I check the list 4,5,6 times). I will take pictures of the contents and then take to work with me on Thursday, where my printer friend will double as a FedEx representative, and will carefully pack all the contents for 2- or 3-day FedEx delivery (I want to check how the package will be transported from the East coast to the “Left”coast) – I’m not worried about the expense – This is precious cargo and I expect guarantees.

5. Then, after the package is on its way, I’ll send an e-mail to Evolution Entertainment to give them the heads-up that a package is on its way to their best client, Scott Patterson. So delivery should arrive on Monday or Tuesday, September 8th or 9th. I will, of course, keep everyone apprised of any responses and updates to the delivery of the package. I think it would be wise to keep fingers crossed and say some prayers that we have the same luck as last year when Yvonne’s package arrived safe and sound from crossing the Atlantic. We have no idea where Mr. Patterson is and where he is choosing to spend time on his birthday, so it may take a little time to find out “when” he receives the “Posse’s Package.”

6. I will then resume listening to the rest of the CDs for quality control before sending out to those who have put in a request. If there is anyone wishing a copy of the CD set, just send me a PM and we’ll see what we can do!!

Over the holiday weekend, I spent some time re-reviewing all the posts from the Posse Thread about this Project. It’s a nice read!! Lots and lots of funny posts. I would begin with Posse Thread #2 around December 30th, and then go from there. Nostalgia can be a fun thing.

I just wanted to add that this was a project well done – and the organizational skills of Lulu was monumental in making this achievable. Her leadership is infectious. KBatMO, Tarty, SPCrazygirl, CrazyboutScott, and NGNM, what more can I say?? “I bow to the Masters” I’ve obtained much knowledge on music now, solely thanks to your input; and to SPC and NGNM, your artistic creativity is beyond my dreams – made the CD gift so extra special, and it not only shows – it “shines.” The honor is mine to call each of you “friend.”

And finally, thank you to everyone who sent a Happy Birthday well-wish to Scott honoring him and his 50th birthday. If wishes do come true, I so wish to be a fly-on-the-wall just to witness him opening the package. Boy, the things I would report back!!!

Thanks Deb for finishing up the present and everyone who worked so hard on this projects. You all did a great job. And yes, I'd love to be a fly on the wall as well when Scott opens the present.

An Update: The Birthday Project Package has been boxed up and at this moment is in the hands of Federal Express. The package will arrive in Los Angeles by tomorrow afternoon.

Update to the Update: I sent an e-mail to Evolution giving them the heads-up on the package. I will either receive a response from them (hopefully), or I will call on Monday. Things are swimming along nicely (keeping fingers crossed)

It's wonderful just to have the package delivered to its desination. Whether or not a response is given to us -- I'm sure that all involved were thinking of birthday well-wishes to Scott, instead of receiving something in return.

It feels good just to send something out successfully.
