List of ideas for Scott’s 50 birthday project:

1. A dvd with montage/collage of his life of 50 years – to include audio of people’s well wishes, history of Haddonfield, baseball, acting; photos of Scott throughout the years – a story of his life as we find it.

2. Leather-bound book filled with well wishes (Scott loves books!!)

3. Add in the book a pouch for cd filled with music of the times (lulu)

4. Add in the book – Everyone compiles an object - the same object - from each of the towns/areas we live in, iike a postcard, or a photo that we each have taken ourselves or even our favorite photo of our localities and write something about ourselves and the towns we live in, maybe even a poem if one wants to do that. It can all be put in a book - even a leatherbound book. I like the idea of making whatever we do into a leatherbound book. (Elissa)

5. CD Cover Sleeve – with graphic art (Nogodsnomasters) – brilliant work!!! Everyone’s picture on it (St. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Band) or the Dylan Highway 61 with just Scott on it.

6. Collection of $$ for Scott’s brother-in-law’s cause – Children’s Hospital Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital or the Local Children’s Hospital on honor of Scott’s name and birthday. (Elissa – and hubby)

Hi everyone!! We are rounding 3rd base now and on the way to home!! Everyone has done a fabulous job on the CD project – Lulu is just instrumental in leading the way – lots and lots of kudos to NoGods and Tarty for their insight to the different genres of music. I think that Scott will be “over-the-moon” with this gift.

We are still awaiting word from Measha Brueggergosman to record a special birthday greeting and sing the Happy Birthday song for the CD. Will keep you in the know with updates on this score.

NoGods and Ela are working on spectacular CD covers. Can’t wait to see the works of two graphics geniuses!!

Preparations have been made to collect well-wishes and cards from all who wish. Well-wishes can be sent by e-mail or as a file attachment. You can PM Lulu or me (SPA) for steps on where to send.

Phase II of the Gift now begins!!

We have a target date of Friday, August 22nd to collect all the notes, well-wishes and cards and the package will be sent shortly thereafter. Pictures of the presents will be posted so everyone can see the wonderful work dedicated to the project.

Spread the word to members and friends who would like to send a message to Scott on his day!!

Thanks for the new thread Deborah. It would help if I paid attention, so I'm bringing this over from the previous thread.

If I'm reading my results correctly it looks like

For
1982 Van Morrison Northern Muse
1989 The Pixies Debaser
2001 Radiohead I Might Be Wrong
2007 Greenday/U2 The Saints are Coming

Deborah can you add the above as the choices on your list. Thanks.

1960 we only have 3 votes listed so far. 2 for Ray and 1 for Drifters
1998 we have 2 votes for Eels Last Stop This Town and 1 vote for You Rock My World
2004 No one has voted for anything yet. I have to listen to the songs that Nogods posted
2008 We Have two votes for Morning Jacket I'm Amazed and 1 for Tim Fite Big Mistake

Okay hey gang. Deborah and I were kicking this idea around. Tell us what you think.

Okay I will be talking about the CD case/jacket/holder .

On the front of the holder we have a picture that will be created by our graphics team (Nogods, Ela or whomever) Each CD case will have a different front cover pic.
On the back of the case will be the song titles and artists.
Inside the case on the right will be the cd itself.
On the left we were thinking of our signatures/little well wishes that can be reduced to fit inside like a collage.
Deborah says that signatures/well wishes can be scanned and sent like a .pdf file. or faxed.
Thoughts?
It's getting whittled down guys.

Sounds great.

NGNM, I was looking online at A Ghost is Born last night, and now you linked the songs. Thanks.

2004: Wilco - Wishful Thinking

While we have our thinking caps on, we need to take a look at 1975. Patti Smith - Horses. Since Horses is the name of the album, we need to choose a song, unless this is referring to Land: Horses/Land..... as the song. ???

Tarty: I think you are right -- the song is Land/Horses: Land of A Thousand Dances.

That would be my vote

Just an update on the cover/jacket idea

Instead of the signatures/wishes etc inside the cover we will put the liner notes/blurbs.

Tarty that's where you will come in. After you type up what we come up with, send to Deborah and she will fit it to the inside cover.

Als o Thanks for your 2004 vote.

I need to get on that too.

Deborah I believe you are correct about the Patti Smith song.

Tarty can you link at Wilco song for 2004 I can't find Nogods link

Okay Posse members! Here's an update on the cd covers. Since there's interest in the Dylan and and Sgt. Pepper ideas, a few of us decided it made sense to stick to the famous album covers "tweaked" to reflect Scott in some way. I think the key is staying true to the original album's style and choosing iconic covers. Here's one I made today that only took me about an hour because it's a simpler idea. Here's the original:

Here's the new one:

Personally, I think he will love it and definitely recognize the cover. I figure a music guy like Sp will recognize that cover right away.

If you are interested in appearing on the Sgt. Pepper cover, send me a PM.

More to come.

I love it too!!

Can we change "Bollocks" to "Buttocks"???

Just teasing -- I think it's great. Is this for the CD-4??

NoGods, I'll try and get a candid shot of me taken with digital and send you a pic for you to crop. Not sure it will pan out though, but willing to give it a try.

Well the song collecting seems to be coming along nicely, with Deborah on the ready. Looks like Nogods has a handle on the graphics, with help from Ela I believe. Tarty has agreed to keep track of the liner notes once we start brainstorming that.

Okay these last songs have two votes to the other guys one , so if no one else is going to vote, we maybe should just go with them

Ray Charles Georgia on My Mind 1960
Eels Last Stop This Town 1998
Wilco Wishful Thinking 2004
Morning Jacket I'm Amazed 2008

Sounds good to me -- and they are great choices. I'll edit the listing on the first post. Can always change if there's a flood of new votes.
