But I will add everyones suggestions.
I really believe it should be in 1994 - because of the film soundtrack. BTW - not that I want it more than Stuff and I'm Ready ... but when you watch the movie - as the song Runaround Sue starts - there IS a super cool, sexy SP moment ... he's just thrown a strike-out and he snaps his fingers in rhythm w/ the song ... in a "West Side Story/ 'when you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way....'" kind of way. Worth rewatching - just for the moment.

p.s. SPcg - can you watch "region 1" DVDs???? Please reply to me on the baseball thread.

I have one more addition to my vote:

1997: Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

Still need to get back to you on 1993 (first year Scott accredited in a film in acting)

This is the relatively easy part. The list on paper. Then the techno stuff will have to be figured out, that will be the toughie. IMO.

One step at a time.

That's why it so good that we have lots of people with great ideas, so I know it will be top notch from the cover/carrier to the notes inside to the CD's themselves.

A whole bunch of creativity will come into play.

I can list the next five years but we are really light in the selection. Will need more suggestions I'm sure. I can list what we have so far.
Thanks for all you're doing, Lulu! For me, it's getting tougher because there are more great choices now that we're out of the eighties (in my opinion anyway).

For 93, can Human Behavior by Bjork be added?

Do you think that's something scott would even be into?
I do, Razzle. Very much. I'm agonizing over that one and some other choices for '93. Bjork is much more than what the infamous swan dress suggests. I thought she was great in the film Dancer in the Dark. I think "Human Behavior" would appeal to Scott's artistic side. I see him as a discerning person who appreciates innovation.
On that note, I will make a final plea that someone breaks the '89 tie in favor of "Debaser" by the Pixies. I think Scott will like that much more than "Janie's Got a Gun." Recently, on another forum, Regis1 linked an article about Scott's "perfect weekend." I had only seen excerpts of it before, but he describes going to a couple of movie theaters (not modern ones) and spending the day watching film after film (if he had the time). He also mentions going to art museums and returning home "to paint." Just more evidence of his artistic side that I thought I'd mention. My Favorite Weekend: Scott Patterson - Los Angeles Times

Besides "Human Behavior", I am mulling the following for '93:

Nirvana from the album In Utero: "Serve the Servants", "Milk It", "Pennyroyal Tea", "All Apologies." I'm leaning towards "Milk It" because of the interesting shifts in tempo, and I think it would be a choice that would surprise Scott (pleasantly, I think).
Morphine from Cure for Pain: "Cure for Pain", "Buena", "Let's Take a Trip Together." The last two songs have a seductive sound and sexy lyrics. These are the songs I'd want to have playing if I ever enticed Scott into my bedroom (but he doesn't have to know that...)
Flaming Lips from Transmissions from the Satellite Heart: "Turn it On", "She Don't Use Jelly." SDUJ is hilarious but actually not dirty. If I had my druthers, I would wait for '94 and choose the Lips' "Waitin' For a Superman" a great song, but I hesitate to put anything up against Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" (even though I prefer Leonard Cohen's).
Smashing Pumpkins from Siamese Dream: "Disarm", "Today".
Red House Painters from the Rollercoaster album: "New Jersey" for obvious reasons.
Counting Crowsfrom August and Everything After: "Anna Begins", "'Round Here", "Mr. Jones"

Thought I would share these possiblities in case anyone is looking for more ideas.

YouTube - Buena - Morphine
YouTube - Morphine - Cure for Pain
YouTube - Flaming Lips - Turn It On
YouTube - She Don't Use Jelly
YouTube - Flaming Lips - Waiting for Superman It's '94, but it's my favorite song by FL, so I couldn't resist.

YouTube - Smashing Pumpkins Disarm video
YouTube - the smashing pumpkins - Today
YouTube - Nirvana - Milk It
YouTube - Nirvana - Pennyroyal Tea
YouTube - Nirvana - All Apologies: 1993/Live On MTV Unplugged
YouTube - Bjork - Human Behaviour

YouTube - Anna Begins
YouTube - Counting Crows - Round Here
YouTube - Counting Crows - Mr. Jones (Official)

ETA: Jeez! I forgot about Yo La Tengo for '93! From their album Painful: "From a Motel 6" YouTube - Yo la Tengo -- From the Motel 6
This is difficult!

NoGods thanks alot, those suggestions really helped me alot for 1993.

Ironically I've heard She Don't Use Jelly.

After listening to all the clips I realized I recognized a few of the songs.

At first I was leaning towards Counting Crows' Mr. Jones or Round Here

But then I realized I hadn't listen to Nirvana's All Apologies yet.

Ding! Ding! I totally know that song, that's my choice for 1993

Well Scott seems to like out of the box kind of things, so I always pegged him as a Bjork kinda guy.
Glad to see I'm not the only one.

How about mixing it up a bit with a classical number -- He mentioned he likes Beethoven-type music -- real dramatic and scary -- bold -- loud. I could research something along those lines.

And I like Karen's idea about something from LBL, which would put around 1993.

It is his first year officially mentioned in the books of a role in movies -- official SAG credit.

Just thinking outside the box and outloud.

I did put two suggestions of songs from LBL. Both are on the 1994 soundtrack but I actually put one song on 1993 and one song on 1994. The song from The Band I put on 1993 because that's when they first released it.

As far as Beethoven, I'm not opposed to that or maybe something from Meeshia (Sp) since he mentioned in an interview he bought her CD, Anyone know the CD and from what year, I think that would be cool.

Maybe the suggestion is crazy yes, but I had the idea to begin the title list with the following version of your national anthem. As said, is only one idea, but what do you hold of it?

YouTube - Dixie Chicks National Anthem Best Ever
