George could be interesting character for Scott to play. But somehow I can´t imagine it as a comedy.

I keep stating that it more likely is a "dark comedy" with not very many takers on my side. I'm not thinking a comedy like "Everybody Loves Raymond"-kind of comedy. I think the humor will be between the twin brothers mostly and how one wants to marry -- and all that goes with that. Maybe more informatoin will come out soon.

Funny how I haven't heard anymore word/information on the Barry Minkow story. I know it's still filming in L.A., but no new substantive information about the movie.

I'm beginning to wonder if The Frankenstein Brothers isn't a comedy after all. The only place that I saw it mentioned as a comedy was on Taryn Southern's website. Perhaps that information is incorrect. The synopsis from the official Facebook page doesn't have a comedy feel to it, although as you mentioned SPA, it could be a dark comedy.

I'm thinking it will have comedic aspects, along with some guy bonding humor, but probably some growing up/getting the girl message too.

At least I hope it isn't sophmoric humor. Or too dark.

Today is Scott's Birthday!! Ela has prepared a thread to send him well-wishes on this particular, auspicious day. We invite you to visit the "Topped" thread and post a well-wish and/or a message of support for all his new projects!

A link to that thread will be forwarded so that there is direct access for him to view.

I'm looking for new news on either project -- haven't really found anything -- names of some crew that have been picked for F.B. -- and that apparently there is an actor picked to play a "football player." Still coming up crickets on the Minkow story -- nothing new; still filming though.

Is this new?

Quote:
A gang is in Denver shooting "The Frankenstein Brothers" a coming-of-age flicker about twins who graduate from CU-Boulder and inherit the Left Hand Brewery. It stars Scott Paterson ("Gilmore Girls," "Saw IV and V"), Alexandra Paul ("Baywatch") Zelda Williams (Robin's daughter) and Jayden Jaymes (porno star).

The crew moves into Bonnie Bangert's Country Club digs Tuesday for a wedding scene. Other Denver locales include Shotgun Willie's, Left Hand Brewery and Red Rocks.

Craig: That's new news, and a good find!! -- There have been some blogs from people on the project posting snippets but nothing of significance and no photos that I can find -- yet -- but I think there will be some stuff coming out in the near future. I read about a strip-club scene (must have been the Ms. Jaymes portion; and then I read something about a Halloween scene filmed recently (maybe last Friday). So now they are heading to a different place for a wedding. Boy, when they mean 'filming on location' they really mean it, huh?? No studio stuff -- all direct places. I kinda like that.

Anyone have an idea what the average length of a small-to-medium budget indie film is? I was wondering if we are looking at the short end of average or directly on average -- whatever 'average' time is. I'm also thinking that if it is a less-then-average length of time, then they just might be able to edit it and get it ready for the Sundance Festival in January. Now that's something for me to think about going to if indeed The Frankenstein Brothers make it there!!

Good find, Lancer1993. Thanks for sharing.

I'm wondering too if they are going to show The Frankenstein Brothers at one of the film festivals.

I wonder when the list of Sundance films come out? If the festival is in January, maybe the listing will be out sometime in November -- not too far off.

I´m kind of afraid it´s too late for Sundance. Lauren had two movies that premiered on Sundance in the last two years and both were filmed in spring. but who knows how it works. Sundance or not I´m sure they will find some festival to open.

Guess it depends how long filming and then post production takes?

Our posting count is a little low this week. Hopefully it will pick up over the weekend. I'm not finding anything substantial on either movie. We know that Scott is still in Denver. There's snippets of info there and there from blogging but no pictures that I could find. Blast and Curses!!

And it appears that the Barry Minkow movie is officially scheduled to be wrapping up filming this weekend and is slated for release in February 2010 -- they may be able to get the movie ready for pre-lease at the Sundance Festival, though I hear that the movie listing for the Festival won't come out until around the end of December.

In case there are those who haven't seen it yet, here is the IMDb link of The Frankenstein Brothers. No mention of Scott, Alexandra Paul, or Taryn Southern, but it does show who the director and producers are with Zelda Williams as top billed in cast.

Oh, thank you, SPA. I've been checking IMDb for The Frankenstein Brothers, but I missed the last few days. I wonder why it doesn't list more of the actors. I mean, Scott and Alexandra Paul are more well known than the actors currently listed. Hmmm.
