I don't think it's Scott either -- it looks more like Costas Mandylor -- I've checked his pictures. The ear isn't the same; and not the same shoulders as Scott. But I read that too. It's a mistake. Here it comes -- the mis-information games regarding Saw now begins.

***********

I can also report that Scott Patterson and Amy Pietz have submitted different episodes for consideration for next year's Emmy Awards. Amy's is the Pilot episode; Scott's is for "Help Wanted" Kudos to both of them!!! Reported in the L.A. Times, but I cannot find the article again for a link. When I do I'll post it.

Amy's choice is good for her -- but Scott's is excellent. Help Wanted was a great episode for him to choose to show both comedy and drama.

Both actors are going for Best Supporting Actor (or Actress) in Comedy Series.

Aliens didn't make the cut for Best Comedy Series for next year. Boo -- but expected, right?

I was just about to post that.

BTW I don't think it's Scott.

And yes good on Scott and Amy, hope they win.

Just a little update to the fans regarding what is going on with SP --

He wanted me to share with you that he found some of the comments on his art to be extremely perceptive and he thoroughly enjoyed reading all them.

Elements Of A Pink Ribbon, the indie movie he was offered, is on hold for now. It is a financing issue but hope springs eternal.

He is waiting to hear about his half hour comedy pilot. A major cable network is reading it.

SP and his writing partner are currently working on a comedy feature script.

SP is in his new, huge, light filled studio a lot working on new paintings. He wanted me to ask you if you thought it would be a good idea to offer these works for sale to his fans directly (by lottery or auction) or would it be better to deal with galleries?. Currently there are some galleries that would like to rep him and his work - 4 here in the States and 3 in Europe. He is interested in your opinion.

With a strike all but inevitable, I suspect there will be a lot more art produced in the immediate future.

Oh btw, several people have asked if they can repost any of the information that I share here and the answer is YES. ANYONE can repost my information until I state otherwisee. I use to post also on another forum myself but I have forgotten my password.

Thanx for the new news Lea!!!

Major cable network -- I'm thinking HBO or Showtime??? Very intriguing. Keeping fingers crossed.

I'm sure everyone will be keeping their eyes peeled for Elements of a Pink Ribbon -- let's hope that financing gets locked up soon.

I really like the idea of lottery or auction to sell his paintings. I think it all depends on his thinking -- a gallery will give him a higher return for his art (I think); I think he will reach out to his fans easier if he dealt directly with them. Any chance we might be able to get a peak of more of his works? Specifically, the two on his left of the picture you posted earlier -- a lot of us are thinking that it's a trio set (before, during and after).

I wonder if Scott now is a member of the WGA?

I wish him nothing less than success in any path he walks. Thanx again, Lea -- you're a gem!!!

Lea...thanks for the info. I would love if Scott would offer his fans a chance to bid on his art directly. That would be awesome. Let Scott know I wish him the best in what ever he does next!

Thanks for the update Lea.

It'a always about money isn't it. Financing Indies is hard work.

Hmm a comedy pilot on a cable network, hopefully on a network I get. A lot of the cable stations are quite good.

I'm thinking if he wants to get to his fans with his art they would have to be on a smaller scale as the big ones he's working on are surely out of our league.

But it is truely awesome that he has the interest in asking us out opinion on the subject.

Love the Scott news, thanks Lea.

Hope the new show takes off, probably got more of a chance on a cable network, pity AiA couldn't move there.

Thanks so much for the update, Lea. We appreciate it.

So sorry to hear about the indie film being put on hold. I am really looking forward to it. Financing seems to be the bane of indie films existence. Sending out positive thoughts that some financing will come through sooner rather than later.

Fingers crossed for the comedy pilot and feature script too. Very exciting!! Please let us know.

Lea, it is very gracious of Scott to consider offering his artwork directly to his fans, and as a fan I for one would absolutely be interested if Scott chooses to go that way. Since you asked for opinions regarding direct to fans versus galleries, and believe me it kills me to write this since it possibly means losing my chance to see more of Scott’s art or even purchase some directly as a fan, I think Scott’s best opportunity for success with his artwork would be to go with galleries. Likely that option would be the best way to get his art out into the world for all to see and/or purchase, especially if Scott already has so many galleries interested in representing him. If Scott does choose to go with galleries, please let us know where they are so we can check them out.

I wish Scott success always, however he measures that success!

Thank you, Lea!!! Thanks also to Susi - for pix update on previous page. Tarty - ITA re: Carlin, love your sig - and betcha SP feels same (except maybe "football vs. baseball" - LOL)
Ooohh - a comedy series on cable where they wouldn't censor everything and the quality would far exceed networks - oh how perfect would that be!! Plus it would get attention!!!!!! I'm all for that (and everything else). Lancer ITA re: Aliens in America on cable - would've been wonderful!
Cool to know the name of the indie film in which he was offered a part - from which I infer it's about someone with breast cancer - sounds like serious drama. I'd LOVE for him to have a chance to 'show his chops' on the big screen in both drama and comedy!!! Fingers and toes remain crossed!

Regarding galleries vs. direct: it depends on what Scott wants - what kind of niche/recognition does he want as an artist? Does he want the "audience" to be his existing fans or does he want to include art collectors? How much does he hope to sell the works for? If he wants to be taken seriously in the art community at large, if he wants art collectors to see his work, if he wants to start out selling these for 4-5 digits($), then the only conclusion = gallery representation. My sister works in the art world - has for nearly 15 years - so I have this on a very knowledgeable authority whom I trust 100% - or I wouldn't state this so strongly.

To fellow fans - this doesn't mean you won't get to see - or have an opportunity to bid on Scott's work! These days, prestigious galleries have websites listing their artists and works for sale (as well as auction dates, show dates, openings, etc.) I believe that Scott's work - artistically-speaking and in the case of the painting we've seen, his "voice", - should be seen and heard among the widest audience possible. I think people attracted to his art may become interested in his acting work - they're mutually reinforcing.

Most importantly, the only way for Scott to make a name for oneself in the art world - even in that 5-digit category - is through representation by a top-level gallery/art dealer. The leading galleries have retail fronts in many major art centers, they've got the collectors, and they also have European connections. People - collectors, that is - who have the money to plunk down $ in 4 or 5 digits (let alone, more!) on a piece of art at whim - do NOT buy on direct artist websites ... they only buy through - and at the advice of - reputable dealers whom they trust. Also, the backing of a prestigious gallery gives the work an imprimatur that Scott will not find otherwise. It means Scott's works have been vetted by art professionals who consider his work to have artistic merit and investment potential. So if he's serious about an artisitic career, the gallery route is the only way to go - this is essentially an all-or-nothing proposition - and I sincerely hope Scott "goes for it"!!! Once again, everything on my front is crossed/starred etc.
Again, thx so much Lea! Am delighted that he's seen some of the comments regarding his work.

p.s. There's no reason Scott can't post his work on a website for folks to check out ... I just don't think it's the avenue he ought to take - professionally/commercially speaking. The website could always carry a link to a gallery rep. whom potential buyers can contact for more info. But again, given dealer/gallery websites these days - his own site might prove unnecessary; that's up to him.

I'm not sure, but I wonder if he's asking how his fans are best able to access his art -- thru a gallery or otherwise? If he is going to donate the proceeds to his charity work, then wouldn't be represented at galleries be the best way for this? Gallery shows/events tend to get pricey but there are wonderful opportunities too. And I think that replicas and/or photographs (lithographs??) of his paintings could be purchased for bulk of his fans. And if Scott wishes to reach out to his fans -- for his fans -- the lottery/auction option is a great way to say "hello", don't you think? Either way, it wouldn't stop me from looking and admiring, even if I wasn't able to purchase.

I have no doubts that Scott knows how to make money, and plenty of it.

Thank you so much Lea for the update!

The fact that Scott still asks for our opinions and likes us to be included gets me all giddy every time. Knowing that I'm supporting someone so considerate makes me proud to be a fan.

I wish the best of luck to both Scott and Amy, and whatever happens I believe they completely deserve the recognition for their work.

I've been able to find out a little bit more on Elements Of A Pink Ribbon. There is a myspace blog from a member of Pure Element Film Productions, in Denver, Colorado, who are producing the film and are writing updates about the movie (latest was May 13th -- before Lea's post). On their last blog, it mentions that Keiko Agena (Lane Kim) has signed up for the movie as well!! Here's their latest information:

Scott Patterson and Keiko Agena!

Things cooled down for a bit, but are now back on track! The new years brought us a change in cast along with financing! Shelia Traister a great actress is cast as the Ronnie Schnable. We also have Scott Patterson cast as Bruce Schnable and Keiko Agena as Ellie Dee.

We are looking to film this fall and we are so excited! This will help bring more film to Denver and help me achieve a dream come true! Keep checking for updates.
So, let's hope they can get financing asap!!!

Is this a nomination or a submission for consideration to be nominated? Needless to say - major fingers toes and everything else crossed either way.... Thx for the news!

p.s. I think that lithos, seriographs, etc. of his paintings would be very cool!!! A) I'm guessing the paintings could be out of the price range of most fans (they should be!!) and B) Not many of us can display a 5' by 8' painting in our homes. In my apartment it would be me or the painting ... and while I love, love (love!) Scott's work - and I'm sure my cat would appreciate the colors - she'd still prefer the thing with arms that can feed her. (meow!) Some form of special limited edition copying would still have collectibile value and would make his work accessible ($) to more fans - that would be wonderful!!!

Excellent idea ladies!!!! Best of both worlds. Original paintings/artwork in a Gallery and lithographs for fans. Oh, that would be wonderful indeed!!! So exciting!!!
