Scott Patterson - Memorable Moments

The idea is:
Post your favorite lines/quotes - whether from a tv-series, movie or from an interview from "the Man" himself - and describes, why you like the line.
Or you describe a favorite moment, and tell why if you want.

Memorable Moments Members (MMM):
1. SPcrazygirl

I’ll begin:

The first kiss. For me one of the nicest moments between Luke and Lorelai. First, the desperation and jealousy after the short talk with Jason.
And then, finally, the releasing first kiss.
Why just this moment? Maybe, the reason is, that I must wait for my releasing kiss still up to the 22nd March.

I loved the look on his face and the sound of his voice when he was giving an interview when all of a sudden he sees someone and says: "Hey, Baby!"

Thank you for making this thread, Ela -- I've a lot of examples -- this one was my first of many!!

I'd like to put a list together of all of Scott's (character or otherwise) quotes/statements -- just like the appreciation threads -- on the words that he spoke that sticks to us -- still (thinking of Luke/GG)

Come join in the fun -- let us know a quote that you still remember

OK.... let's see..... there are so many wonderful moments, it's difficult to chose.

I will start with the episode when Lorelai and Luke are in the Diner, after closing time. Lorelai is helping Luke chose the paint colours for the diner, after convincing him to re-paint and having offered to help him.

Luke is reminiscing about his dad, and how he left everything in the diner as his dad left it in the Hardware store before he died. They find the hardware order Luke's dad wrote on the side of the cabinet at the back of the counter.

They are sitting on the floor behind the counter sipping a beer, and they share a moment...... and just as Luke is about to lean forward to kiss Lorelai, they are interrupted by Taylor and the rest of the town people knocking on the diner's door.

Just as they are both on the floor still hiding, crouching forward..... Luke turns towards Lorelai, looks at her really deliberately and whispers "thank you" with such and intensity!! Gosh.... I know I said this before, but I am going to say it again..... Scott is so good at conveying emotions with just a word or a glance!!

Then Lorelai..... stands up and claims she has to go home .... I believe this is the first time I seriously questioned Lorelai's intelligence in the series!!

Obviously, had they kissed, they would have gotten together and the show would have ended..... sure I know that..... but honestly, who believes that Lorelai going home after Luke's "thank you" and the moment they just shared is a realistic story line???

Nevertheless...... this is one of my favourite scenes..... and Scott played it so well..... showing Luke's vulnerability so well!!

2003 Merrill Lynch Celebrity Ski Classic

Scott is “freaking out” when he tells Picabo Street when interviewed:

I’m racing against a Gold Medalist; You are interviewing me. You’re a Gold Medalist; I’m having my back rubbed by a Gold Medalist; The opposing coach is a Gold Medalist; The cameraman won a Gold Medal as a Junior – I’m freaking out!”

One of my favorite interviews of Scott – makes me grin each time.

He was nicknamed the “Energizer Bunny” (hmmmm, I could think of that term differently – heehee)

Here’s a link to the video. Enjoy!!!

Over the years, it's been nice to see the different sides of Scott's personality emerge in interviews. I particularly enjoy his smart-ass side. On one Aliens in America interview, you can see how quickly he can go from thoughtful and articulate to playful:

IGN TV: Some thought it was offensive to Americans, others thought it offended Muslims. It seemed that you couldn't even include those elements without being called offensive.

Patterson: The beauty of the show is that it shows there's ignorance on both sides. I think those critics that were railing against the show – quite vehemently to everyone's surprise – I think they completely missed the point. It's not untrue to say that a lot of Americans don't know a lot about Islamic culture. They don't know the history, their daily customs, the whys and wherefores. It's also safe to say that on the other side there are a heck of a lot of Muslims that don't understand what American culture is all about. So I think this is just really an attempt – in the form of a premise for a comedy show – to try to have a couple balls in the air at the same time. Socially, culturally, comedically – and I applaud [producers] Moses [Port] and David [Guarascio] for attempting it. And I think they pulled it off, and to me it's quite an accomplishment.

IGN TV: It also seems the criticism died down after the first few episodes…

Patterson:
We got them all backstage and bitch slapped them.

Another moment I love is a video interview from the Saw IV junket. The interviewer, a young, hip woman, sets Scott and Lyric Bent for what seems to be a serious question and surprises them. I just love Scott's reaction (as well as his tight, denim shirt). The part I'm referring to starts at 1:28 into this link:

I would love to hang out and banter with Scott.

ITA, NoGods. Scott’s interviews are not the run-of-the-mill actor plugging-a-project spiel, that’s for sure. His intelligent, self-deprecating and witty style during interviews always makes for an interesting read/listen. Plus, his generous praise of other actors, writers and directors is refreshing. Not many other actors do that.

My top memorable moment would be May 29, 2008. The day Scott’s painting was posted. I was completely in awe. Although I never expected a bowl of fruit, I was blown away by the complexity as well as absolutely elated by the viewpoints expressed. Scott is an extremely clever man. His painting revealed yet another remarkable facet.

I look forward to reading the book of poems Scott is rumored to be working on. My hunch is Scott’s internal monologue is one creative, twisted, compassionate, witty, off-the-wall conglomeration of insights. I would love to hear/read it. Waiting in anticipation…

We definitely share top memorable moments, Tarty! I always had my hunches about Scott (inferred from his professed love for Amnesiac and Eddie Vedder's lyrics), and it was so cool to see his "Howl" of a painting. I agree completely that it was clever and complex. It expressed (to me, anyway) so much about the fear and loathing of our times.

Right on, sister! (wow...am I retro or what?) I am intensely curious about his writing.

Oh and this:
