A Dual Report of Scott Patterson Sighting in Vancouver By: Tracie (Kevinsgirl) and Deborah (SPA) To start off: Here is a synopsis of our brief encounter with Scott on Saturday in Vancouver. Even though there was limited time to talk, we are both extremely grateful of his generosity for giving up a little bit of his private time to meet with us. His candor in answering questions and providing his insights on AiA will be a welcomed sight to his fans. Scott Looks: He looks “fit”; “trim”; “relaxed.” Better in person than in a photo, if you can believe it. He retains his youthfulness very well. A picture is worth a thousand words. What do two pictures do??? You fill in the blanks. His NJ accent was very prevalent – and refreshing to hear. Scott’s Demeanor: He seemed very happy to see us. He wanted to talk to us. He was a bit rushed because of a prior commitment; however, on his own accord, sat down and spent 20 minutes talking and answering as many questions as we could ask. There just wasn’t enough time. We can say that there wasn’t one question he didn’t want to answer. Scott Loves Vancouver!!! Loves the city life here. Scott also loves meat on his pizza!!!!! (He didn’t say what kind of meat – pepperoni, sausage, ham, anchovy, etc. – but it seems as though his taste for pizza differs from that of Luke). Aliens in America: Scott almost wanted to talk about AiA exclusively, and was extremely enthusiastic -- which was fine with us. We immediately got to questions and our first question was: “Where are the promo photo-shoot pictures of you?” He said “they were done recently and should be out real soon. Be patient”. We told Scott that the boards “are-a-buzzin” with the anticipation of AiA, and that we are starving for more information – ANY information, regarding the show. Scott says this show is hilariously funny and everyone is going to love it. “You’re going to love Gary Tolchuk, so be ready.” He also said that there’s not that many sit-coms out there today, so when one does come about, the writers and directors are all over it to make sure that a hit is in the making. Scott feels that this is a “hit” show or has the potential of becoming a hit show. Deborah’s first thought was “Is lightning striking twice?” (going back to what Scott said about GG, that lightning doesn’t strike twice). Scott also said that the writing is nothing less than genius. He kept repeating: “You are going to love this show – just give it a chance.” Oh, and he asked us – his fan-base – to spread the word about AiA, which is what we are doing now. So this is a job for Patterson’s Posse!!! (like it’s a real hardship, right??) Deborah asked about the show being controversial – he said: “It’s not as controversial as you think and it’s done in good taste. You’ve only seen snippets, which doesn’t really tell the story of the show – yet. You don’t get the full extent of the humor of the show.” He kept repeating that “Gary is a scream. That you [we] are going to love him.” We then asked him: “What is this eating doughnuts and drinking coffee in the principal’s office all about?” And that’s when he gave us his trademark grin and said: “Exactly. Well, he ain’t Luke.” Scott remarked that: “Gary isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you are going to love him.“ This tells us that we will be seeing Scott in a whole new comedic light – different from the straight man Luke role of GG. Didn’t say better – just different. Scott is really jazzed about this series. The pilot episode airs on October 1st at 8:30 p.m., right after “Everyone Hates Chris” (anyone see the irony in that?????) [For those us who are a bit slow, here’s a hint: Luke’s rival was Chris] (A comment previously made, but it still makes me chuckle!!!). I would opt for a committee to set up sending mass e-mailings to everyone you know with website links that show updates of AiA. This will keep the show on the front burner of everyone’s mind. Let’s show them what Patterson’s Posse Power can really do!!!! REPO Audition Tapes: We asked about them and he said that he’s still working on getting a copy. This may take some time; however, he is working on it. On The Ending of GG: Scott told us that he was prepared for a Season 8; however, it was out of his control and accepted its ending. He also said that he enjoyed the experience and is grateful for the fan-base that he, in our view, is just now beginning to realize exists for him. Patterson’s Posse: It seemed to us that by talking a little about his fan-base (just not enough time), that he was humbled in hearing about us. We did mention that his fan-base is rapidly growing. We need to continue to show him our support in current and future roles so that he knows that we are behind him 100%. Saw IV: Again, not enough time to talk about everything we wanted to and neither of us had a chance to even ask about his role in this movie. Damn. The Tattoo Debate: Again, unfortunately, there was just no time. We wish, we wish, we wish we had more time. When the end came (all too soon for our likings), he offered to sign some photos and have our picture taken with his arm around each of us. Wow – we will live on that the rest of our lives – no exaggeration there whatsoever. As I have mentioned in the past, the man is “total class.” Deborah’s & Tracie’s Thoughts/Speculations: We were under the direct and immediate impression that he was happy. Happy to be in Vancouver; happy with his work; happy with just the day being Saturday. It was nice to see after such a strenuous summer for him. We were unable to get any hard information about future movie work – there was just no time. However, I did get the impression that he’s 150% “into” AiA and really wants to see it succeed . So, he seems to be content with an established television career. That’s fine by us – because that means that there’s some form of guarantee that we will be seeing him at least once a week on the screen in the future – hopefully with a long horizon. We both liked that Scott talks in positive tones. He emits the power of positive thinking. Nothing good is ever gained by negative thoughts. One really gets the sense that he’s just grateful to be working in the business and having fun to boot. What else is there in life!!! On a personal note to Scooterjo2004 (Mariners of TWoP) -- If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have been able to eat at such a fabulous place as the Yaletown District. Lots of fabulous restaurants, even live jazz music. The personalized signed photograph of Scott from Scott was our gift to her for sharing her information of her stay in Vancouver. Tracie and I would be happy to share our exploring information of Vancouver to anyone that is interested. Some places are pricey, but on the whole, the city is fantastic and the hotel we stayed at -- River Rock Casino Resort, is a classy place.

SPA, being that you went and met with Scott in Toronto earlier this summer, I'm assuming he remembered you from that journey? He must have been surprised to see you in another part of Canada!

Which leads me to ask, if I may, was this also an arranged meeting or did you just happen to bump into him "randomly" in Vancouver? I couldn't imagine going up to any celebrity during their time off and asking to have a conversation with them.

It was a wonderful experience, all the way around. The thing that got to me the most is how down-to-Earth he was to us; meaning that's his nature. He likes making friends / meeting people. I hope that never changes.

Thanx everyone for all the kind posts. We came, we saw, we conquered. My job next was to spread the joy.

Now our job is to help Scott make Aliens the success he wants it to be. I think Patterson's Posse is up to the challenge. BTW, he likes the moniker "Aliens" rather than AiA.

Sounded like a fun meeting! I wish I could take off at a moment's notice to go "find" someone! SPA, I remember reading your posts about going and meeting Scott in Toronto a couple of months ago, how he shook your hand and everything! And didn't he mention you by name in a note as the one who drove 9 hours to show support for REPO? He seems like a gracious, attentive kind of guy, so I imagine he recognized you from that!
