| That's great photo, Michelle! You and your husband looked sweet together. He definitely looks Irish. We have lots of Irish people in Boston.  I have a lot of friends here that have Irish backgrounds. My guess is that you have some Italian background, is that right? | Elissa.. yes my husband is Irish and I am 100% Italian. That picture was taken when we were in Mexico in April. That is why I have the island beads in my hair. I'd certainly have guessed "Mediterranean" for you and "anglo/northern Europe" for your husband! Beautiful features and smiles ... + love the beaded hair! Very nice to "meet" you!!!!!!! Lulu - Love those pix too - thank you! Also totally jealous - but I'm glad some of us got to experience that! It has moved me to muse: Stars Hollow is in our lives forever! In our hearts ... and fortunately, on DVD. It's true - the interior of Luke's diner and the Stars Hollow sign are gone! But the set "Midwest Street" was begun by Warner Bros. in the late 1930s. It was built up considerably in the early40s for "King's Row" starring Ronald Reagan & Ann Sheridan (a great actress) ... not the usual goofy Reagan pic; strange, dark film actually - in which I've spotted the Twickham House! The Dragonfly Inn + exterior = The Walton's house + land. One of WB's "nature/exterior" sets is home to our "Swan Song" lake, and the very famous Jess bridge - for some of the most beautiful/fun scenes with Luke and Rory. Innumerable film and TV scenes have been filmed on Midwest St. for decades. My fave is "The Music Man" (1962) starring Robert Preston & Shirley Jones. Any SH fan will instantly recognize something in almost every scene ... the school, the Twickham house, Miss Patty's, Luke's (long shots only), Mrs. Kim's, the gazebo, the gym interior, the church....It's mind-blowing!!! This stuff was built for filming, not for 'real life' - they preceded The MM by ~20 years and here they are, 40+ years later, more vibrant than ever on GG! They're an American "Cathedral de Notre Dame," ceiling of Sistene Chapel, etc. Okay - an exaggeration by 6-9 centuries(!), and great cinema has been made in virtually every nation of the world, but IMHO film - and film history are an American cathedral!! (Along w/the "old west"!) Most of "old-time Hollywood" is gone. Very few studios built, preserved, and continued to use these sets as WB did. It may reflect just how cheap Jack Warner was back in the 40s/50s!! - but they invested in something in Burbank CA, in the valley below the Hollywood Hills, that has endured!!! Bravo! Lulu - how fortunate you are to have experienced the GG era up close and in person!!! Thank you for sharing it with us! __________________ Avi by a former Albanian c. 1980s.
