Scott Patterson - Scott GRAPHICS contest #1 - Everone can participate!

I know we've got a lot of talented artists here, so show us what you've got! Young and old, short and tall, Photoshop, Paintshop and hell, even paint users, let's see what you can do!

Each Thursday a new image (or set of) will be posted for you to use. Only these images may be used unless otherwise noted.

ICON Entries should be standard size and abide by guidelines: 100x100 pixels, 39.1kb. (They may be smaller, just not larger)
All other entries really have no limitations, but please keep it within means. (Let's say for the sake of people who may be on dial up, no bigger than 1024x768)

From the date the images are posted, you will have until the following Thursday, 7 P.M. EST to submit your entries,
via PM to me and to whoever else volunteers to partcipate.

For the time being, votes and icons will be PMed to me (until someone else volunteers)

If you volunteer to help man the contest, you may still participate!

Remember, everyone can participate! In fact, if you think you're not so great, it's encouraged. I promise you'll surprise yourself.

Please do not post your graphics in the thread first. This way, everyone will have a fair chance and there is (in theory) no bias.
Icons will be posted for voting the same day a new contest is put up. Your names will be included after
the contest end so that people can comment and credit if need be.

There will be a few categories for each type of entry (if 20 icons are entered, there will be a few icon categories, if it's larger graphics there will be a few for those as well) Depending on how many entries and different types for this contest, the categories will change.

Because FanForum is a large community, I encourage all of you to participate in other forums that you may not know exist or haven't really visited. You never know what you'll find! So here are some other FanArt competitions going on around

As many as your heart desires! At least for now, this way we can gauge how many people are gonna participate anyway.

May I be a judge?? Being able to create graphics is an acquired taste -- I'm not there yet. But I'd gladly volunteer and will enjoy looking at other people's work!!

SPA, sure, I'll be sending you a PM/email shortly.

As far as rules go, I'll change it but still send me your icons so I can give them numbers and upload them to a PB (this is so that everyone has a fair chance, in theory, anyway.) I'm not saying that anyone would vote for an icon just because they like the person who made it, but I want people to judge just on the actual work.

I hope that's okay, if anyone has any suggestions or comments please say so! This is everyones contest and it'd be nice for more input.

Just so you guys know, we've opened this up for other types of graphics to encourage more people to enter and try to gather some others from around the board. If you'd like for the contest to be extended, please let me know.

This is a great idea! I'd definitely love to participate. If you want to extend the challenge, that's fine. If not I'll probably be able to come up with something soon.

Kind of sad to say that there were only 3 different people entering.

Should we scrap this idea?

Since no one is voting or really entering, how about we just issue a challenge weekly? No winners or losers (there goes my prize idea.

) Will more than 3 of the posters participate?

Also, I'll post who made what with the icons ASAP.

Please let me know guys, yes or no, either way just let me know. Can't guess what people want.

Razzle, this contest is a really nice idea, but I'm graphically challenged so can't really participate, and am sure there are others like me. Not sure we have the number of posters on this board right now to carry out the contest idea, plus it's a really busy time of year for a lot of us with kids in school and all. Maybe once school is out in June more people could participate? Just guessing on that.

Keep up the good work moderating the board and trying to find ways to motivate us to post more. You are doing a really good job!
