This is a little bit dated, but it looks like Darren is also in Toronto directing Scanners. He says that he'll be involved in Saw V as well -- in a producer's hat for sure. Here's the link:

Still, Bousman insists he will play a part in the same context that the original SAW director oversaw the next two films.. "We've been throwing it around. At this point, it looks like I'll be shooting [the Scanners remake] at the same time here in Toronto. I'm sure I'll oversee the Saw V script as James [Wan] and Leigh [Whannell] have done with parts two and three."

ETA: I received an e-mail today (03-20-08). Here's some updated news but nothing specifically about Scott:

We're on the set of SAW V. Producer Mark Burg says: "(Director) David Hackl's first two days of footage looks terrific. Filming on the first trap scene begins within the next two weeks. Samantha Lemole has joined the cast of SAW V." Stay tuned for more exclusive updates from the set. (SAW V is currently shooting in Toronto).

Two new cast members have been cast in Saw V -- Mark Rolston and Samantha Lemole. I haven't checked them out on IMDb yet.

And also Betsy Russell will be returning to V -- Jill.

Well it doesn't tell us much, but here is the new synopsis for Saw V, no spoilers in the synopsis

Almost every one brought in to try and solve the jigsaw mystery has died or been unjured. With John's dead body in the hospital, Officer Rigg badly injured still in the wharehouse, Agent Perez recovering in the hospital and Agent Straum no where to be found there leaves one. Upon hearing the news that Jigsaws games will continue from his death Detective Hoffman has dissapared and a whole new game is just about to start.

(March 25th) Also announced that Julie Benz, "Darla" of Buffy and Angel fame, has also been cast in Saw V -- link

I think this thread should be for all the news surrounding the shooting etc of Saw and any spoilers, casting or other should go into the spoiler thread. Just to make sure that someone doesn't accidentally read something they don't wanna read. The spoiler warning in the title is just there to warn people that there is information about Saw in here, but the actual movie spoilers can not be discussed here.

I know it's confusing, but does that make any sense?

I don't think I've posted was a spoiler -- only cast announcements. I was directed to post Saw stuff here. So it is confusing as to where to post.

Maybe there should be a Spoilers and Speculations Thread just for Saw so as to not be confusing to anyone. There are people not interested in this genre and it would isolate from other spoilers and speculations of Scott's work.

Casting spoilers are still spoilers. The actor's name is fine to post anywhere, but when it comes to information about the role he/she will play, it should be in the spoiler thread.

This is what says about spoilers:

Interesting, I was always under the impression that this was a spoiler thread for Saw (I think it's the way the title reads that gave me that impression)

And the spoiler/speculation thread was for spoilers about GG (sad) and now Aliens or any other project he was on.

The title here is a bit confusing.

Ironically, someone just asked me was the spoiler/spec thread just for Aliens and I said no, but there is a seperate spoiler/spec thread for Saw.

So, apparently I gave incorrect info.

Ok! This is what we're going to do. If there's objections, then let me know. I asked on the Mod board and this was the suggestions given.

We're going to change this thread to an appreciation type thread for Scott's character in Saw. And it'll stay spoiler free.

The spoiler thread itself, the opening states that thread is for spoilers for Scott's work - movies and TV. So, I'm going to change this thread and anything information pertaining to the movie Saw V will need to be posted in the Spoiler thread

And when the new mods are chosen, if they want to change this, then that's up to them
