List of ideas for Scott’s 50 birthday project:

1. A dvd with montage/collage of his life of 50 years – to include audio of people’s well wishes, history of Haddonfield, baseball, acting; photos of Scott throughout the years – a story of his life as we find it.

2. Leather-bound book filled with well wishes (Scott loves books!!)

3. Add in the book a pouch for cd filled with music of the times (lulu)

4. Add in the book – Everyone compiles an object - the same object - from each of the towns/areas we live in, iike a postcard, or a photo that we each have taken ourselves or even our favorite photo of our localities and write something about ourselves and the towns we live in, maybe even a poem if one wants to do that. It can all be put in a book - even a leatherbound book. I like the idea of making whatever we do into a leatherbound book. (Elissa)

5. CD Cover Sleeve – with graphic art (Nogodsnomasters) – brilliant work!!! Everyone’s picture on it (St. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Band) or the Dylan Highway 61 with just Scott on it.

6. Collection of $$ for Scott’s brother-in-law’s cause – Children’s Hospital Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital or the Local Children’s Hospital on honor of Scott’s name and birthday. (Elissa – and hubby)

I'll ask Lulu first -- I think the the finishing up of the 50/50 song list should be around the end of March --

If there are multiple songs for a year, it will then be time to have a discussion and pick out the right song. We will then have our 50 Scott Songs to present to him around end of April.

Then we need to begin the planning of getting the MP3 files to someone.

Just taking this a couple steps at a time.

Again, I'll check with Lulu. Anyone else think of steps to help this along (or something I've missed or overlooked??)

That sounds about right. Right now it's merely infomation/song gathering. Getting all the suggestions in one place. Then will be the fun part and getting the final cut figured out.
I must admit, some of the songs I'm not familar with so it really is going to have to be a group effort, keeping in mind the goal of selecting songs that we think represent Scott's tastes, have a special meaning for him or something we thing he'll get a kick out of.
Remember with different people and different tastes and genres of music, it will take lots of discussion and give and take.

That's only one step, then it's song collecting etc. which I am an absolute rookie about. So someone with that kind of knowledge will have to step up to the plate.

Like deborah says baby steps.

I'm sure we will be able to figure everything out. Hopefully everyone will be willing to open discussions about the songs and why they should be picked.

How about:

Riders on the Storm -- The Doors, 1971, a classic
Behind Blue Eyes – The Who, 1971, also a classic

food for thought

I like both of those songs, classics.

Is Nickelback's Rockstar not going to be on the list of options?

I know that Rockstar was released in 2007 but It was actually recorded in 2005

Does Behind Blue Eyes have lyrics that could make us think of Scott's blue eyes? That's where my mind went.,

That's what I was thinking when I heard it yesterday, Lulu. And it took me way back to my teenage days -- quintessential heavy metal rock in the 70s for sure.

I guess it could be added but there's stiff competition with with John Lennon's Imagine.
