Thanks for the news!!

It'll be interesting to see Scott in a straight up father role.

So now I have two shows on the CW....damn, really wish I didn't have loyalty to this network, oh well.

Joannathe, I just read your sig....wow, just hitting me that we'll see Scott in a new role weekly. Makes it seem more real that no more 'new' Luke Danes moments. I'm happy that he's got a new series, but strange thought....I guess the reality of GG being over comes in waves and new facets all the time.

So....any idea how large a part this is?

I am not thrilled either, bu I am glad that he found something he believes in...
So he is going to play a fatherrole, but who's father is he going to play? Justin Tolchuk's? I am a little confused here, I thought the role of his dad was already taken...

I guess. Didn't someone mention that they wanted to re-cast the dad?

You are not alone. That sucks big time. The clip looked boring and I bet they put every cliché known to men into that show.
A half hour comedy. Come on there had to be something better out there. He will have to look for something new next year again.

I don't understand why the CW - a network - is auditioning people for shows. Wouldn't the studio producing the show being doing the casting of the roles? SP's contract was with the WB, or am I missing something in all this?

I hope it will be a well written role for him. After having such great writing for most of the run of GG, it will be disappointing if the writing is as poor as most of the other stuff on the CW. But, it will be nice to see him again even though I have no interest in this show.

Gotta admit, I was hoping he would get something more meaty - like on HBO or something - where he got to do drama, romance and some comedy. But, if he's happy, I'm glad.

Didn't we have some information that they needed to put him in something come July 1st otherwise they would have to pay him without him doing any work ?
So I'm not really surprised it was all a "misunderstanding" in the end

Yeah, it's nice, isn't it? First they don't want you. But then they don't find someone else and then you're suddenly good enough again.

From what My Friend says, SP believes this half hour comedy to have the possibility of being groundbreaking in its concept. He wanted to do this show but pulled out last week because the attitude of certain executives made him feel that they had no respect for him. No one wants to work for people who don't respect them. He told them that he wasn't interested in the part last Tuesday, 6/19.

The CW audition other actors beginning 6/16 but didn't see anyone else that they felt was right for the role.

So, little over a week ago (around the 21st), the CW came back to SP apologizing for the "misunderstanding" and begging him to reconsider their offer. Evidently the writers, the producers, and just about everyone connected with the show (except perhaps one) really felt SP was perfect for the part.

Evidently he agreed with them.
Thanks Sassy, I hope it works out and lasts more than a few eps, I'll play it by ear to see if I'll check it out 'cause I have to *cough* it.

Maybe in order to make this series work, Scott has put some of his own thoughts into it. Maybe they've offered him a producership and/or writing/script creativity. The underdog scenario has been appealing to him in the past. I think he would like to expand his acting/producer/writing abilities to extend his arm of understanding so that people see the similarities to people that are "different" than themselves. I know this sounds "deep" and way too deep for a 30-minute comedy show; I just think that Scott sees this show as a vehicle to spread acceptance of all people's to the tv screen. It might catch on. I just wish the show wasn't on CW. I really don't like that network. I do think that they will have to reshoot the pilot with Scott replacing the father. That father was just too dorky for me; and also I'd like to see the Dad's role have more dialogue than what I've seen so far. Maybe with Scott at the helm -- the actor with more experience than any of the other cast members -- it just might succeed -- if CW stays out of the way.

Got my fingers crossed.

Can't wait to see Scott this Fall -- yippee!!

They already ran a promo trailer last week for AIA during the Gilmore Girls. The old Dad was in the promo.

Well, they haven't started shooting the episodes yet. Probably will be doing that very soon. We should be getting more and more information in the months of July and August.
