I have been wondering about the change at the bottom of the Forum page too. Now you have to scroll to the top every time to get to another thread. What happened?

Back at cha, Tarty!!! I'm just lazy as all get out. Was hoping that Razzle or Jenn knew what was up with that. Or is it a "settings" change. I couldn't find anything of that sort.......

Thank goodness it's hump-day. Does anyone know if "computers" are universal when playing a DVD movie in the format for US or Europe (PALs 1 or 2)?? Inquiring minds would like to know. I could always ask my IT guy.

Thanks guys. My foot feels a little better already. I got this stuff that helps for all kinds of injuries. And if it's not better by next week, I definitely have to go to the orthopedist.

Deb, I don't really know what you mean. I didn't notice anything different.

Ugh, I just put a mosquito net on my kitchen upper window because I can hardly ever open it without having a dozens flies in my apartment afterwards. And I have to open the window at some point because it's soooooooo warm here again. It's before noon and I've already 26,6°C in my apartment.

As far as I know, your DVD drive can change format 3 times and then it's stuck on the one you used last. That's what I was told a few years ago.

The thing on the bottom (which I didn't know existed until everyone complained about it being gone...) is gone to speed up the forum. Someone from MST or one of the admins said in the info forum that it takes a lot of HTML. I'm not sure off the top of my head, I'll have to go back and find it.

Wow; it was a perk -- now our "bennies" are slowly being whittled away, to where there will be nothing but the bare bones. Thanx for research this, Razzle. We'll make due.

1 more Q - has a change been made to the main SP page at the top - the box that shows who's logged in?

Yeah, the 'online box' disappeared again. Too bad. It was always nice to see how many lurkers there are on the baord.

Yeah that disappeared awhile ago. I can ask why if you'd like but I'm assuming it's the same reason the bottom nav bar is gone as well.

I'm sorry that the bottom bar is gone, I must be the only person who never used it.

but I'd rather have

and no bottom bar than no

at all.

eta: wanted to add this helpful little tidbit that i've only recently discovered---if you have a tabbed browser, keep one tab open with your user cp. There's a great feature with FF that is EXTREMELY helpful to remember where you've posted and what you want to check. You can click subscribe to thread on any thread and also on forums. You can see whenever the thread is posted in or the forum is posted in in your user cp. Picture to come for any of you who don't understand/may be technologically talented. (No offense, I didn't even know it existed until someone mentioned it. I always had a hard time remembering where to post or where I had posted.

Subscribed forums and subscribed threads in their respective folders (Cause you can organize em too, nifty!)

Not just the SP board, but forum wide, yes.

Also to speed things up and prevent crashing, to my knowledge.

Here's the techno-babble to answer all your questions. I'm very sorry that the "perks" have gone, I really liked the online bar as well but I also like a functional and reliable

too.

In reference to the stalker bar:

Because even if people are not visible, you at least get to see how many people are viewing the board. And some of us are visible

As for whether the stalker bar is causing things to slow down, there are other things happening on the server, automatic processes and configuration changes that I make, that also effect server performance but that you guys may not be aware of. So I wouldn't automatically assume that when the server is slow or can't be accessed for a short time that it's because that option is turned on. Even though we've been on the new servers for a few weeks now, I'm still making changes behind the scenes, some of which are more successful than others.

We removed the bottom one to streamline the site a bit - with so many forums at FF, it takes a lot of HTML to generate those drop down menus. Embedding them twice in the page made every page bigger than necessary.
