Awww... Great thread guys!

I think that the Rory/Luke relationship, although one of the lesser explored relationships on the show, is one of the reasons why the Luke/Lorelai relationship is as special as it is. Does that make sense?

From the very beginning of the show, we have seen how much Luke adores Rory and really goes out of his way to do things for her (ex: make the cake in RBP). He's always there to help out (ex: helping her move to Yale). He's there for important occasions, when her *real* father is not (ex: her Chilton graduation).

So, I think on some level that adds to the idea that Luke and Lorelai should be together. Because if he didn't show that much compassion for Rory, we might not feel the same about him and Lorelai being together.

I have so many favorite Luke and Rory scenes... But, I think my favorite is in "Help Wanted" after he comes back from his fishing trip. I just thought it was really sweet and real. They are each concerned for the other in that scene. Luke is concerned because he knows that Rory was physically hurt and he feels awful about that. And, Rory is concerned for Luke's feelings because she knows he feels partially responsible and thus reassures him that it wasn't Jess' fault and in turn it wasn't HIS fault. I just loved the feel of that scene.

I really hope that there are more great Luke and Rory scenes this season!

I gree with your post 100%. I'm just going to add this: Emily wants Rory to have a "real" family. A child needs a mother and a father; although Luke isn't her father biologically, he's more of a father to Rory than Chris has been. That being said, if Luke and Lorelai get married, Emily will see her wish come true (even if she doesn't feel this way).

I'd love to see Luke as Rory's dad.. I mean in some ways he often acted like her Dad.. mir often that Chris did..

When I think of Luke's fight with Dean after her heard that Dean and Rory splitted up.. It was soo sweet of Luke..

I'd love to see Luke put Chris in a headlock.

So how much trouble will Chris cause between L/L in the next episodes? As for Rory, I like that she told Chris to back off, but she was kind of mean to Chris. But then when she told Luke off, the next week it was as if nothing happened.

Yeah I liked how Rory stood up to Chris, I was like 'You go girl!!', I thought Alexis was great in that scene, there was one bitchy look she gave Chris... I was so proud

I'm not a Chris hater, sure I don't want him and Lorelai to be together but I don't actually have a strong hatred towards him like quite a few javajunkies so I too may be a bit sympathetic if something goes down at the wedding. I would feel worse if Luke was hurt in some way tho
